Dumbest question ever??

WHY WHY WHY WHY do you ever do it in the 1st place???
Put the damn thing down and drive and pay attention to the road.

80% of cars still do it. Insanity.

I got a smart watch. Easier to glance at my wrist than my phone.

Get a newer car that has voice controls for your phone. Add collision avoidance, adaptive cruise, and active lane assist and let the car help keep you from doing anything really stupid.

Driving down a two lane highway and drifted off the shoulder of the road. My passenger mirror clipped a speed limit sign post and exploded it, also knocking out my passenger window with the mirror debris.

I never did text and drive. I rarely would even talk on the phone and drive. I'm not good at dividing my attention and I figure texting can wait and paying while I drive is much more important.

Put your phone on your back seat if you have to until you get used to not using it at all.

Sorry about your friend and his family.

I'm going to start using Siri 100% of the time if it can't wait to send a text. Even she butchers it.

I'm done with this shite man.

For those of you offering decent responses and not being dicks I appreciate it.

against the law where I live and I already donate enough of my hard earned income to local officials

if something is that important then just pull over and deal with it...don't endanger others

There is absolutely NOTHING you are going to get in a text that can't wait for a response.

If you are so important that your text messages must be returned immediately, then you would have someone whose sole purpose in life is to drive you around.

Since you do not have that, you are not that important and your texts can wait until you reach your destination. Not a stop light, not a stop sign, your actual destination.

Yup, if it is really THAT important, someone will call you. Most cars now have hands free.

I read a study performed by highway safety that explained texting and driving was exponentially more dangerous than drunk driving, and I stopped.

It's not an addiction. Just put the damn phone down before you kill someone.
