Text to speech and vice versa works.

A lot of my posts here are speech to text. Mostly because my spelling sucks

Truly a nightmare. 5 kids in the car total. Only 1 passenger walked away relatively unharmed.

Well you're pretty much a complete moron if you just can't stop fricking with your phone while you're driving.

This thread just makes me want to laugh at young people today...but I love ya just the same. Addiction to a cell phone, how tough you have it!

It is ridiculous honestly. How hard is it to put your phone down while you are traveling on the road with other cars full of people who don't want to die or get injured because of your carelessness.

If you download the iOS 11 beta it uses GPS to tell if you are driving so it will turn it on and off without you even having to think about it. It might also disable the internet too but I haven't tested that yet but overall its a pretty sweet feature.

You've made the first step. Way to many people seem to think it won't happen to them. Diffusion of responsibility. I just put my phone in the cup holder and don't pick it up unless I'm parked somewhere. Thank's for being a responsible member of society.

Put it in the car where you can't get to it. Lock it in your glove box. Texting and driving is one habit I've never picked up. I'm just not that coordinated.

Yesterday, a good friend of mine's wife, son, and friend of the son were killed in a horrific car wreck. Another girl is in a coma and an additional girl has multiple serious injuries including spinal fracture.

That wreck looked terrible, sorry to hear.

Put your phone in the glove box or back seat. Mine is on Bluetooth and will read texts too so I don't even need it.

The only way to stop people from using their and driving is to have them automatically locked when moving at certain speeds. This would also mean no way to override it.

Why are you so addicted to your phone that you can't put it down for 20 minutes while you drive?

Keep your phone in your pocket and just listen to the radio.

I listen to talk radio in the car mostly whether it's sports or something else, so I enjoy listening and have no need to want to check my phone.

I put a cell phone dock on my dash (one that inserts into CD player opening) to use my Waze app. Texting is awkward and difficult, so I don't really do it anymore.

I mean if this doesn't make you stop, then nothing probably will.

Not making excuses, but not everyone has a 20 minute commute. I drive 45-80 minutes each morning and afternoon to get in and out of my territory.

Everyone is hammering the OP even though it's something that is very common in today's world. Hopefully the self-driving cars will be here soon and eliminate this growing problem.

While I hardly ever text while driving (can't recall last time I did it), sometimes my phone is next to me in car and I get a text pop up. Reading the text can be just as dangerous and I've been guilty of doing that on occasion.
