They probably could, but I have to remember the onus is on this guy to move his stock or he's stuck with it. Kind of like independent dealers for hobbies that go to flea market type shows to sell the stuff.

I have 2 buddies that go to different stores, buy things and send them to Amazon to be resold or sell them on Ebay.

I saw one of them in Academy one day and he bought every pair of Columbia and Sperry boat shoes they had on clearance to resell. All he had to do was remove the sticker, box them and send them off. His commission was going to about $20 a pair.

I think part of the Buccees brand allure is the exclusivity. If you can just order all their shite online, there's no need to stop at Buccees vs some other run of the mill gas station. Maintain the exclusivity and the excitement of stopping at a Buccees, they can invite more impulse spending in store.

Just the opposite probably. People are paying a premium 50%+ premium for Buc-ee’s snacks. If they are willing to pay marked up prices for random snacks then they are way more likely to actually stop at a Buc-ee’s when they pass one.

Hold up. I can do this with a 30-65% markup to undercut him and make $125-150k a month?

Sure you can, except for one little thing. Thousands of people now know, and will likely be doing the same thing. It's going to drive prices down to the point of being unprofitable and crush the whole damn thing. That guy should have kept this shite quiet, now he's going to be destroyed. I hope he made enough in the time he's been doing it, which it sounds like he did.

Because he is doing the work for them. He buys product at RETAIL to resell, and they don't have to deal with site maintenance, shipping, returns, etc.

But it is wild they didn't contract out somebody to just open a shopify store.

He already paid for them in store. Buccee’s made their money. Now some guy is basically giving them free advertisement through his online store by selling their products. I guess Buccee’s figured it better to just let him do his thing rather than have a public negative court case. They asked him to change the site name for liability’s sake more than anything.

Because they can’t. Same principle as buying a pair of shoes then reselling them. Nike can’t tell you to not sell your own property.

You can limit the quantity someone can buy. Not uncommon at all to see a “limit of 5 per person” or some variation l.

Me too. But hey. They just expanded their market and selling items at retail prices.

And I’m floored this hasn’t been thought of before. I bet the local buckees just loves to see this guy coming.

I’d like to know how he scaled up to that volume. He can’t be buying that much in individual items from a local store.

It's not illegal to resell items that you have bought. Why would you think it is? This is ebay's entire business model.

This is the way. People paying anything for a faddish item.

My favorite golf course was once a dairy farm and there are pecan orchards nearby, there is a twenty foot fig tree next to an old homestead that I'm keeping my eye on, pears that the owner uses to feed his horses.

What I was thinking, they were selling shelled halves of pecans for less than $2 a pound, her daughter-in-law makes outstanding brownies for $1, the owner has 8 of those 100 yard chicken houses, which he uses for fertilizer on his hay fields and golf course, could I make a dollar?

I don't want to make a dollar from folks like these.

Making a buck from Buc-cees?

Buc-ee’s management is apparently stupid.
They should have been doing this for years already. Honestly didn’t realize they didn’t.
