Texas executes inmate for 2003 strangulation death of mother

Texas put to death a man Wednesday who killed his mother and buried her body in her backyard despite appeals from his lawyers that he had a history of mental illness.

Tracy Beatty, 61, was executed by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville. He was pronounced dead at 6:39 p.m. local time.

His death came nearly two decades after he strangled his mother, Carolyn Click, to death following an argument in her East Texas home in November 2003. When asked if he had any last words, Beatty choked up and sobbed while strapped to a death chamber gurney and began speaking to his wife who was looking through a window a few feet from him.

"I just want to thank ..." he said, his voice breaking. "I don’t want to leave you, baby. See you when you get there. I love you." He mouthed a kiss to her.

He also thanked several of his fellow death row inmates.

"I love you, brothers. See you on the other side," he said.

Beatty was the fourth Texas inmate put to death this year.

The next Texas inmate to be scheduled for execution is Stephen Barbee on Nov. 16, the final one for 2022. Authorities said Barbee killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend and her 7-year-old son in 2005.

The difference is the people on death row had a chance at life and those killed in the womb are completely innocent.

Such an idiotic statement. Not even close to the same concept. This man had a choice to kill his own mother or not and understood the consequences. Unborn children on the other hand... Hell why even try, hope is already lost for people like you.

Yes, because a demonic murderer is the same thing as an unborn, innocent child. What a dumb argument.

I'm actually surprised that 5 states have had executions this year. Thought it'd be less.

I mean vows say for better or worse, but I think murder is grounds for divorcing the POS.

The state should force people like you to allow murderers to live in your home as "roommates". Therefore you can keep an eye on them to make sure they aren't having mental issues. That sounds like a solution if you don't want to put them down. What do you say?

Life begins at conception. Everything is formed at conception….all dna, etc. The only difference between them and you & me is size and level of development. Any DNA test performed will confirm that is a human. Abortion is the most evil and disgusting act in the history of mankind and it is not even close.
