Yep. I wonder what this is going to do for the case numbers. Several places around BR were letting you take a test no questions asked for the past few weeks. Many have now reverted back to requiring multiple symptoms to receive a test.
Could just be a temp lag in the supply chain that’ll be resolved quickly.

I had a patient test positive for 9 weeks before she was negative, felt fine, she had to be negative to resume chemo

Serious question, who is performing the test and what test are they running?
Is it nasal swab or saliva? Large lab (quest, LabCorp, etc)?

No. It's also a backlog in testing capacity. Might be a while. I assume testing increased 500% at least where I work since things reopened. People needing it for vacations and workplaces requiring testing will be SOL for some time I think. Hopefully whatever drive thrus will have increased capacity.

North Oaks Hospital did the first test and my primary doctor performed the 2nd test.
Both nasal swabs.
Test are being sent to Diatherix Labratory

This. People are going to catch on eventually and these type of work restrictions are only going to silence people who tested positive. They’ll go to work like normal out of fear they won’t be able to return. The bills don’t stop coming, but their income will if they’re honest and get turned away from work.
I've said all along that if you tested every single person in our population, we'd find a substantially higher case rate than what's being reported. I think a lot of us have either had it, or have it. This is what I think a lot of people need to come to grips with. The ones terrified of "catching it" probably already "have it" and don't know.

I'm not so sure about that. I am O- and have been exposed to hundreds of positive cases. Had 5 tests and the antibody test. All negative. Genetics? I dunno.

Try around 48 million cases. The CDC gave an IFR value of 0.4 for symptomatic people. If you factor in asymptomatic you get an IFR of 0.26 so you can use extrapolation by dividing the IFR by the confirmed fatalities. I actually think the IFR is going to end up lower so there might be 60+ million cases.

PCR testing can pick up inactive fragments which will test positive. So yes, you are going to be testing positive for likely 5 weeks after initial infection.

Does that count as two positive tests for the overall numbers? Or just one?
What if you have to be hospitalized? Does that mean 50% of positive cases are using a hospital bed or 100%? You wouldn’t be using two beds in this scenario, but there are two positive tests.
