My 96 year old grandpa got it in a home in New Orleans and first tested positive on 3/22. He has been repeatedly tested since recovering, so he can be moved back into his old room. His first negative test came back on 6/25. 3 months....

Yeah it’s bullshite, step dad tested positive 30 days after his first test. Tests aren’t as accurate as most people believe.

Do you live anywhere near saltwater? Infectious disease MD at my hospital told nurse in a very similar situation to you (she was 20 days and still testing +/ was running like 4-5 miles a day in quarantine) to just go swim in ocean and get a little water in your nose. Sure enough she had two negatives after that.

Current recommendation is a “time-based strategy”. Patients who test positive for CV-19 can be removed from isolation 10 as long as they have been symptom-free for 72 hours**.
If going to work in a congregate setting (example - nursing home), we extend that to 14 days.”

It may take a long time to get a negative test. If your symptoms have been resolved for longer than 72 hours and it’s been a week since your first symptoms which in this case is obviously is your aren’t contagious. It’s similar to the flu in the sense that you are contagious for 6-7 days and then you are no longer contagious. That’s on the cdc site and most of the handouts most doctors are giving. This is based on research. Your work is dumb.

Alot of places will probably stop testing after you get a positive. Places running out of tests for sick people. Ochsner won't do it until after 90 days unless your work has some sort of contract with them.

Not true. My sister is has been sick 12 days and still has symptoms, and they are not mild.

Thanks-- saw this in a later post. Hopefully, she will be fine very soon. She has a very bad case. It definitely affects everyone differently.

Someone told me their doctor told them that once they've reached day ~10, they're no longer able to pass it on. They're saying most instances of passing it on happen early on.

That sucks. Unless I physically need medical treatment and must be tested before it is administered, I don't really see a need to be tested even if I think I have it. I'd rather just act as if I have it and stay home until I'm better.
