It's easy to become biased against Musk. One just has to look at reality (a sea of red ink) versus the crap that comes out of his mouth.

Right, the business side has issues.

The issue isn't the car itself. It's trying to crack a market as old as the automotive market with a new product entirely. That was never going to be easy, and you see that now.

They are not using the same method to measure towing capacity. This claim is ludicrous...

No, his problem is producing the car at a low enough cost, and high enough volume, to make a profit.

The car is fine. Everything else is shite. The plant they build them in (and out in the parking lot) had a capacity of 400K per year prior to Tesla taking it over. Tesla has not come close to that and frankly never will unless he allows someone else that knows what the hell they are doing to make the decisions on how to run the place.

Auto plants make money when running close to capacity. They lose huge sums when running at half capacity. Musk has not yet figured out how to build cars efficiently, unlike all the other auto manufacturers around the world, and the results are on the bottom line.

It should be noted that Tesla has made a lot of income selling carbon credits. Still lost money.

Musk is a salesman that shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an actual manufacturing facility.

Easy there, you admit you have a clear bias against Elon, so you can't pretend that's not clouding your judgment.

I did no such thing. Please feel free to quote me where I admitted to a clear bias against Musk.

I always find it odd the folks who are super anti-Tesla will call others fanboys and drinking the Kool Aid when the others are the only ones trying to be rational and not the ones melting and are the ones trying to stick to facts while the others are talking about fanboys and kool and and banging Elon or something.

It really shows who is being more emotional and biased.

I've laid out the reason for my ire toward Tesla very clearly. You choose not to accept it and continue to sip on the Kool aid. That's your prerogative -- and as a Tesla driver, it's expected and predictable.

We'll see how many people want Teslas when that tax credit goes away entirely -- it can't happen soon enough, IMO. If Tesla can't sustain itself without those credits driving consumers to their product, then I certainly won't shed a tear when it goes quietly into the night.

Pretty sure the X has pulled 250k lbs of something and 300k lbs of a plane, but I have no clue how the actual towing capacity is figured as that's obviously not hauling it down a road at 45mph.

Probably in a similar way as my Tundra can pull a space shuttle

"I cannot wait for Tesla to be a thing of the past."

Yea, that was easy. You seem to lack self awareness as you walked yourself right into that one.

quote:

I've laid out the reason for my ire toward Tesla very clearly
Right, while you admitted you never said the same about the GMs of the world and all the bailouts they've gotten. But hey, no bias on your part, right? You can't wait for Tesla to be a thing of the past and hate them for sucking off the government tweet, but you admitted never saying the same about other automakers...just a coincidence that you've only said that about Tesla and definitely not because of your bias, right?

quote:

You choose not to accept it and continue to sip on the Kool aid
There's nothing to accept. You're just biased against them very clearly, you even essentially admitted it, I just don't think you realize you did.

quote:

hat's your prerogative -- and as a Tesla driver, it's expected and predictable.
Again, doesn't matter. No one has really been able to refute anything factual I've said. You talking about me being a Tesla driver is you just saying words with no meaning, but you already know that.

quote:

Hey, look up above. Remember when I said you admitted your clear bias, and you said you did no such thing, then you just admitted it yet again without realizing it?

Back an electric truck down a boat ramp?
Do you worry about the rear end of your truck getting submerged? Why worry about an electric truck?

Are you worried about damaging it, or are you worried about the electricity? Neither should be of concern. I believe that, by law, all of the electrical and drivetrain components are IP65/66 rated or better. And the battery packs and drivetrain are already water cooled, so preventing leaks is kind of a priority. I assure you that water resistance will not be overlooked in the design of the truck.

Also there is ground-fault protection as well as emergency fuses to prevent electric shock.

Being worried about electric vehicles around water is kind of like worrying that there is extremely hot metal and dozens of explosions taking place every second in close proximity to a huge tank of fuel in a gas vehicle.

You have to be one miserable POS to root against Tesla/Elon.

Here you have an eccentric, disruptive, visionary dude shooting for the stars (no pun intended). He has developed rockets that can land themselves and a car that is objectively the coolest fricking thing you’ve ever driven.

Yes he’s weird, yes he overpromises, and yes the truck will probably be ugly. But how the hell do you root against him? Our problem these days is that there aren’t enough wacky fricks like him.
