Delivery dates for Tesla's wild EV pickup, the Cybertruck, have unsurprisingly been pushed back to 2022. The delay, first spotted by Inside EVs, was confirmed on the vehicle's configurator website, which now states production will begin next year versus the initial promise of late 2021.

The Cybertruck joins the Semi, which had an original launch date of 2019, and the Roadster, which got an original launch date of 2020, in Tesla's group of yet-to-be-launched vehicles that have faced delays. But considering how loyal Tesla fans can be, we have a feeling reservation holders for the truck will be willing to wait, no matter how many delays it faces going forward.

Tesla needs to sell out their car division and just stick with batteries.

Damn things gonna be useless anyway.

Let me run to Lowe’s and load up my cyber truck with plywood. Then stop by the house to charge my truck for an hour before I can drive to the camp and build the deer stand.

I really don’t want an electric car. I feel like we finally got gas cars down to be insanely reliable and pretty efficient since the turn of the century. Electric cars seem like a pain in the arse and just not as good as gas cars. Where will people in apartments charge these cars?

I’ll get a Model S once they get the price below 70k. Until then..... I’ll stick to my V6 sport sedan.

Teslas are a lot of fun to drive for around town.

But I enjoy road trips too much to give up my gas vehicle.

Yeah, that sounds exactly like the target group of a Tesla truck. Ol baw fixing up the deer stand.

I’m still unsure of how Tesla actually makes money. It’s stock position is inexplicable.

How is the hummer going to be the first truck when Rivian is already out?

Elon Musk over-promising and under-delivering? Well consider me shocked.

Rivian's customer deliveries were delayed until the end of September, and is expected to be delayed again.

There's a chance HUMMER will be delayed, but they haven't announced anything yet. Their parent company insists that the microchip shortage isn't impacting their EV offerings.

I put a deposit on a Cybertruck. It was expected to be built in early 2022. I abandoned that when it became obvious that my old Subaru wasn't going to make it that long without a big repair.

I imagine the delay would have pushed back my Cybertruck build to Summer 2022.

It's a cool vehicle, but I am not sure how they are going to keep the proportions and still have it easily in a standard residential garage - which is where these things will mostly be charged. The concepts are larger than a 1 ton Silverado pickup. They will have to trim the size significantly for production.

Rivian was delayed. I really like the looks of that one, but I'm reluctant to go with an unknown company.

Tesla is an established brand now.

I really wish Honda would make an Electric Ridgeline.

That is my dream vehicle!

Apartments are installing them right now and new developments are installing them at a rate of about 1 per 20 units. I'm sure that will increase as demand for it grows.

What? Elon promised and missed? Say it isn't so. Give him more tax dollars.
