For me, in my current role, I am not getting paid nearly as much as Meta workers, but for about eight months a year, there is very little to do.
Obviously not making close to their salaries, but I personally just don't feel like I'm growing as a person or professional, despite the work being very easy.
I think if I were making six figures I would be much more like "whatever" and just not worry about it, but I think there's an inherent feeling of "Is this all I'm going to do with my life" when you get in a position like that.
Been doing some service industry work on the side and, while it's much less money, I feel much more productive.

I’ve noticed significantly less errors and video buffering in recent months.
I appreciate less censorship and more open discussion with new Twitter. And yeah the tech just works better.

Any more questions why cost of housing is so high on the west cost? When you have people able to have two jobs paying them 250k to do 3 hours a week of work....

I know someone who is making $120k+ a year in tech sales. She works from home and sits in 5-10 hours of zoom meetings a week. She has had this job for about a year and has yet to make a sale. It’s crazy.

Conservatives think all tech workers are liberals. Conservatives hate liberals so much they actively root for them to lose their jobs and their families livelihood. It’s what Jesus would have wanted.

So what? Why does this upset conservatives so much?
These are mostly publicly traded companies. Everyone should care.
They are free to do as they choose, but to say this isn’t noteworthy or interesting to discuss is retarded.

Do not forget that these are the people who have the ability to shape not only culture, but government policy and are in charge of controlling the flow of information.

The tech industry is bloated with unneeded administrative positions. The person here and most of the people who got laid off were managers, recruiters, and HR folks. Actual developers do work, especially outside of big tech.

Correct,That part is mostly spin, they were hiring people like her Ms. Machado to meet quotas for minority hiring or to meet those esg scores.
If Ms Machado is hot then that's awesome. Also Machado could be Italian or she could be from Spain and be white from like Argentina.

And she's still a she. Which is why she was hired. Almost all of the big names in cybersecurity I deal with all have female recruiters and sales reps because the majority of the company is men. Gotta get them DEI numbers up son, and that's how they do it.

Yeah, check out the subreddit r/overemployed.

True, but there's a big reason why pharmaceutical companies and other companies hire women for sales reps and recruiters. People like dealing with an attractive women over some middle-aged guy or some dude out of college. Let's be honest Maria Taylor and Erin Andrews could make good bank in pharmaceutical sales.

It’s insanity. Every major corporation has gone batshit crazy chasing DEI instead of results. If you check a DEI box, you literally have to produce nothing and you’ll continue to climb the ladder.
I’m having to beg/borrow/steal to find money to buy light bulbs right now at work because my budget for facilities has been cut so much. But don’t touch that DEI department. Huge payroll that produces no product. Keep frickin that chicken.

With everyone addicted to their phones and social media these companies have a money printing press. It’s a unique model where you’re not really producing anything of value and in fact a net loss for society in many respects.
And nice work if you can get it.
