the demands don't even mention a raise for drivers.

According to Teamsters Local 89, which represents employees in Louisville, the demands from the union include no more excessive overtime; no more two-tier pay; higher part-time pay; more full-time jobs; job security for feeders and package drivers; and protection from harassment.

Junior didn't do much for the workers. Glad he is gone.

I am saying to get rid of unions all together.

while we're at it we should get rid of the middle class.

Unions need good leadership just like everything else. Bad union leaders doesn't mean we should get rid of them altogether.

anyone who uses the words "just hire" as an answer to a problem hasn't had to hire unskilled/semi skilled labor in a while. It is a pain in the arse if not impossible to hire now

UPS hasn’t been hiring them for years in the sort area either. They turn over so fast they’ll hire anybody with a pulse and then have to watch them load when loading or unloading.

Progressives have almost accomplished this goal.

Buddy of mine said a deal was voted on over a month ago. This is all smoke and mirrors to make the union look good.

The middle class doesn't need the unions anymore. It's not the 50's. These days the unions exist to launder money for certain political parties. Don't believe me? Look at their donor lists.

Its a nothing burger. They just threw that in there because the media loves it as a buzzword.

Being a UPS driver may suck, but it's their choice.

How does it suck? Yes, they work a lot of hours around Christmas, but the pay is excellent. It's driving a truck delivering packages.

Amazon has teenage girls doing it.

People do make 100 k a year to sit in pointless meetings and surf instagram.

It's tough for UPS to handle rising labor costs while Amazon is putting them out of business.

If the Teamsters strike we can probably thank Jeff Bezos.

I've said this in a few threads on the poliboard, but I'm surprised by this strike because I heard from a friend who used to represent a Teamsters pension fund that Teamsters want to bury the massive freight carrier Holland/YRC and move that work to UPS and Amazon. The government knows all about it and will absolutely not help Holland. So, the guy who said in this thread this labor dispute is all theater could be right. Or, maybe the goal is to frick UPS, too, as part of capturing Amazon work.

I always found it rather amusing that one of our Directors who did not hide his push against unions at every opportunity, was the same guy that held tightly to his employment contract with all the perks and a nice golden parachute.
