What are we talking about here? I work in a school district that has over a 1 billion dollar budget, and around 90% of that goes to pay teachers' salaries. I am genuinely curious about where you are getting your stats from.

The average pay for a teacher in Louisiana is $55,000. Look it up. That is 2024 numbers.

You really want to continue this argument?

What’s the value of their benefits that are better than almost anything in private sector?

Really they have none, Louisiana Federation of Teachers and Apel are the largest ones. LFT I know promoted staying virtual another year during covid, also enforcing masking, etc which turned off a lot of teachers.

Yeah, I'd like to know where you're getting your numbers from and how you're reaching the conclusion you're getting.

Edit: it looks like EBRS has 2,195.47 teachers. The average teacher in EBRS makes $56,000 a year so they spend about 123 million on teachers salaries. That's about 16% of their budget.

Teacher’s unions and the EBRPSB are showing again why St George is a thing.

Adam Smith was the best candidate for what the district needs right now.

Agreed, but the Adam Smith that the district needs has been dead for a few hundred years.

The entire district needs the invisible hand to give them a pimp slap.

Most private schools in Louisiana pay below public school salaries, with the big exception being the high end schools like Episcopal with a tuition more than many colleges.

Zip Recruiter - Louisiana Teachers Salaries

According to Zip Recruiter, teachers in Louisiana make $36,117 on average. I did not look up private school, public schools, etc. I merely searched teachers as a whole. Pay can obviously change greatly from school district to district and from public to private as well as from various grade levels.

I won't speak on if teachers are paid well enough or not, I just saw your number and thought that looked kind of high considering the average Louisiana salary is lower than that. At around $52k.

My child goes to the Lab School and Kevin George does a great job. I do not understand why he wants this headache.

In late 2023 emails were sent detailing the back door deals to get Narcisse fired and George hired. They’re all fighting over money, power and influence and the needs of students aren’t considered at all. Whether they hire George or not, EBRPSS will continue to circle the drain and the future of the lab school is concerning. George isn’t the worst but don’t be disillusioned. His decisions are solely for his benefit and self-promotion. It doesn’t really matter whether he stays or goes. LSU people involved in hiring have their own agendas. 99+% of people in EBRPSS also have their own agendas. Nothing will change on either side.

The Inion is trying to control management. That doesn’t work very well.
