Why didn’t smith make it to the top 3?

How are these finalist chosen?

What exactly about Adam Smith makes him the best? Why do they support him over the other two finalists? They never actually tell us that.

My child goes to the Lab School and Kevin George does a great job. I do not understand why he wants this headache.

Last week I read that the last 7 EBR superintendents were hired from out of district.

Clearly that hasn’t worked well.

I don’t support the teachers unions here. But also, can anyone say they have confidence in the board? As bad as the problems are, I’m guessing the quality of external candidates is not great.

Maybe giving Smith a chance is not a horrible idea.

Adam Smith has been with the school board for a long time now, something like 20+ years I believe I read. He also threw his name in the race the past 2-3 times they’ve looked for a superintendent.

Clearly, there’s something there they don’t want.

Every district is short on teachers. Good ones bad ones does not matter.

Lots of reasons for that. Dealing with parents and admins are two big ones.

Not trying to be a dick but a strike by public teachers wouldnt change student results much in the classroom.

Agree

But he’s also been picked by the board multiple times to be the interim.

Which means he had to be fine the first time.

Has he ever tried to get a super job in another district?

and very little if any of that money is spent on classroom teachers. The administration in public schools is so top top heavy that you would not believe it.

The money almost NEVER reaches the classroom. The results speak for themselves.

“We need the board to understand that what we’re asking for is in the best interest of the Teachers' Union,” added Reams-Brown, President of EBR Federation of Teachers.

I mean, this is what they meant. It has ZERO to do with the students. It is all about power and their fear of losing it.

From what I no about teachers unions and the system is the teachers union will 100% sabotage the ones they do not like and cause the max amount of disruptive that they can without being fired. They are pretty much untouchable, and it’s sad.

I have some family that are teachers and they have all gotten out if they were able and didn’t have to much of their retirement tied up.

It’s a broken system and the union hold the keys it’s absolutely impossible to bring in fresh blood and have ppl be held accountable, whole thing needs to burn

What are we talking about here? I work in a school district that has over a 1 billion dollar budget, and around 90% of that goes to pay teachers' salaries. I am genuinely curious about where you are getting your stats from.

Three things are certain in life:

1. Death
2. Taxes
3. Teachers complaining about pay/work conditions/staffing/resources/etc
