Sorry. Come back on Thanksgiving. The threads about going to the trashy relative's house for the holidays are pretty epic.

My Dad served in Vietnam and a hard time readjusting to society when he came home.
He drank.
I'm not going to go all the way with how the rest of his life went but it ended poorly.
Not a day goes by that I don't think about what he did but I know it altered his life also.
I wish I could say this to your face.
frick off!

I've been so disappointed in the south
South should be capitalized. Always. Not so for the other 3 points.

Obviously you’re not one of these either since you’re
A) Creating a long post on Tigerdroppings and constantly replying
B) Know enough about the posts on the OT today to make a rant about them

I’m always extremely appreciative of those who have served, and especially those who have given their lives for our freedom (and appreciative of their families, too). I don’t think one has to post about it here to appreciate them. I also don’t feel bad about relaxing on Memorial Day because I feel that those who have fought for us have allowed us to have this day of rest and remembrance.

I spent several hours at cemetery putting out flags with the scouts during the week. Sorry I didn’t let OP know.
Here’s Charles Coolidge and Desmond Doss graves for the OT.

My brother served in the military. He despises when people say "thank you for your service" and sh!t like that.

Nothing will really drive people to appreciate a holiday like today than shaming them for not sitting on a message board and bragging about it. Congrats. I'm sure you've converted so many.

To all of the fallen, who paid the ultimate price for us, thank you. Requiescat in pace....

I'm not disappointed at all.
HerkFlyer posted a very nice Memorial Day tribute to our POW's & MIA's early this morning. Said my silent prayer for them, texted my Marine Corps buds as we always do, and my VFW friends.
Wife and I watched the Memorial Day Concert in D.C. last night on PBS; yes it's old fashioned but we enjoy it. Big Salute to Gary Sinise for his unwavering service to us Vets.
My cousin one month older than me was K.I.A. in 1968, while I was just finishing boot camp. My brother was in country and allowed to escort the body home. His Mom and Dad (WW2 USMC Pacific) never got over the pain of losing their first born child.
Some years later we had simple granite plaques made, those of us with flagpoles displaying it at the bottom, engraved with his name, USMC, a bronze Eagle Globe & Anchor, and the date he died in Vietnam.
Think about him and others who didn't make it back almost every day. How much of life they missed, all gone far too young.
I appreciate the sentiments expressed by many here, and continue to be impressed with those of you far younger than me who took up the challenge to serve our great country, with distinction, in all branches. I am proud of you all.
And glad you are home.
