If Denise wants the vacant seat.

Got to give her props. "No reason to break tradition."

She is definitely doing herself a huge favor if she has aspirations for a bigger political office. She has easily won over a lot more votes than those other four degenerates.

ETA: I got blocked by Chauna Banks yesterday when she tried to preach some BS gospel verse and I responded that I am an agnostic. She didn't take to kindly to that.

The problem is that Edwards is going to follow tradition if he wants a chance to get re-elected. Can’t go playing party politics if your a democratic in a red state. So these people made a not so well calculated risk with no reward.

There was no risk for the council members. They were voted in by low information voters in shithole districts that love sticking it to whitey.

Good for Tara. The other 4 could care less because I'm sure the people they represent likely share the same opinion.

Gary hasn't just doubled down on this, he's gone all in. All but called Tara Wicker a derogatory term used a lot on his page. He and the 4 council members really don't get it. Wrong move to make less than 3 days after he was buried. You know they started talking the moment it hit the news.

frick that fat POS but I am starting to agree with Fred that we need to all stop giving him the attention he so desperately craves. Nothing he fights for will come to fruition so why spend so much time talking about him. He had his 15 seconds of (somewhat fame) with the Sterling thing and now is just as irrelevant as he was before it. His appeal is to the lowest common denominator that are too ignorant to even want to learn the truth and he is smart enough to know that. He will never get the following he so desperately wants or be the next TalcumX. Hell if it weren't for this board, I would have never known anything about him or who he was.

It's only until a special election, it's not like it's a permanent seat.

I tend to agree, but in these situations, I want a spouse, a close business partner, a close political ally, etc. of the deceased official. It's not a lifetime appointment. It's a few months to a year or so until a proper election can be held to fill the vacant seat.

The people of that district voted for Buddy Amoroso, so you appoint someone that you expect will have a very similar view on the world and that probably spoke to him at length about the matters of the office he held to fill his seat until an election can be held with proper qualifying so that anyone who wants that seat can run and the district can choose who they want next.

It's the decent thing to do. I wouldn't agree with a Republican trying to block a Democrat replacement in a heavy Democrat district in NBR.

Gary is all about sticking it to whitey. He got all excited because he saw a chance to get an even black democrat to white republican split on the Metro Council. He doesn’t care that it would be done in a way that’s disrespectful and just plain disgusting. He’s checking off his wish list for black utopia in BR.....black mayor, black police chief, and next up is a majority black city council.

I’m sure that Tara recognizes the political benefits of voting for Buddy’s widow, but she also knows it’s the decent and right thing to do. Kudos to her.

I have to call out Tara Wicker. I can’t sit by and be silent while she does this.

I also have to give Major props to Donna Collins-Lewis, LaMont Cole, Erika Green, and Chauna Banks for standing for democrats and black people in this city. What you are doing is hard, but it’s RIGHT. It’s JUST.

This council vacancy shows you clearly why black people continue to lose in Baton Rouge, I have to explain to you why this choice Wicker is making us a problem. Tara Wicker. is a clear example of those who have lost their way. Democrats should be ashamed she’s in the party and challenging her to join her colleagues in HER PARTY. She is supporting tradition over the law.

How do you think that fat frick would feel if the shoe was on the other foot and four white council members were planning to stone wall the vote so they could get an extra whitey on the council? Gravy, Chauna, and the rest of those fools would be playing the race card for all it’s worth.

I couldn't see Edwards making an appointment that would piss off that district.
