I didn't ask for JBE's approval ratings, I'm asking why would you, a self-proclaimed Republican vote for him.

So far you haven't answered my question. You have only given him excuses.

JBE has been governor for two and a half years now. Prior to that he was a Dem leader in the Legislature so he knew what he was getting into.

JBE now has a record. He increased govt. with his Medicaid Expansion, he pushed through the largest tax increase in La. history. He fought hard to keep all the tax increase, but fortunately Republicans in the Legislature prevailed and he didn't get all of the Billion dollars that he pushed hard for.

Can we stop blaming Jindal? While the national economy is showing strong growth, La. is not growing.
Trump cut taxes and regulations to get the country moving ahead faster, Edwards increased taxes. Maybe all these taxes are hurting?

What do you think?

Although they will run, I don't see Kennedy or Jeff Laundry beating JBE. Scalise or Graves (who isn't going to run this time at least) would beat him.

If you want to cut spending, cut the size of state govt. and lower taxes; you can't be for Edwards.

Edwards can only blame Jindal for so long. He's been governor for two and a half years. He came from the Legislature. He knew what our problems were.

He's had plenty of time to reform things. It's time to ask, what has he done and what does he plan to do moving forward.

He raised taxes. Did he cut spending much? He added Medicaid Expansion. What is he going to keep people "home" and to get our economy out of recession? The rest of the US is growing, why aren't we?

A. Never said I was for Edwards

B. Never said I wanted to cut taxes, just add transparency and re-allocate where the money goes

I think our next governor will STILL have some right to blame Jindal. Our state government is a fricking wreck and you can't undo it all overnight. The ripples will be felt for a long time.

Sure, but does it wash?

Shouldn't a governor be able to change whatever Jindal did in four years? Shouldn't he be able to change bad regulations, laws or policies that Jindal put forth by then?
Or at least try to do that.

Look, we all know Jindal quit us to run for president, and when things got bad, he used one time money and sold state assets to balance the budget. But Jindal did cut spending and he did not raise taxes. He did not obligate the state by expanding Medicaid.

But, Jindal also help to foster the Film Tax Credit boondogle and he did not reform our nursing home rules to get in line with the national average which cost us millions.

So exactly what should be done moving forward? You apparently like the higher taxes. What's next? We keep the taxes and then what?

I'm asking you, but shouldn't we really be asking Edwards? He's got the taxes, what's next?

If I recall correctly, he didn't vote for Cole. However, after Cole won, he changed his vote to give Cole a unanimous selection.

This is what the 4 council members are trying to use to justify their decision. What they fail to realize is Buddy didn't collude with the other council members to release a statement 72 hours after Marcelle was elected.

The current legislature passed the largest tax increase in the state's history to enable Edwards to turn things around, correct?

They balked at renewing one Billion dollars in taxes when the first tac was set to expire in several months and thankfully they did, or Edwards would have had over 300 million dollars left to play with.

The legislature then passed over a 600 Million dollar tax increase, which was what Edwards wanted. No it wasn't rubber stamped, but it was passed.

Several months ago the Legislature shot down a massive tax on business transactions that would have revolutionized the La. tax structure, but Edwards threw that out at the 11th hour and had hardly any support from any side.

So in your mind, what's next? Is the status quo acceptable? Are we to keep blaming Jindal, those rascals in the Legislature, and should we continue to watch folks leave and our economy stagnate?

Do you think Edwards should be challenged now to produce a plan or should he be allowed to rest on his few successes (Medicaid Expansion, prison reform, and major tax hikes)?

And how she apparently told the four dissenters she was going to vote from the beginning. They apparently kept the pressure on her but kudos to Tara for maintaining her position. Much respect!!!
