Rebel, Harlows would have chains all over the world! Best donuts ever.
I don't disagree. But I think Baton Rouge's proximity to New Orleans & Houston help to keep those kids attending LSU. I wonder how it would affect recruiting. A family from New Orleans would drive three hours to see their kid play football, so they may be more open to considering other programs with equal or longer driving distance.
Just speaking hypothetically. It's hard to imagine LSU being in Pineville today. Nevertheless, I could see where Cenla absolutely had the space and fantastic natural resources to house a major university.
Lastly-I would guess that even more north Louisiana kids would attend LSU, in turn causing schools like ULM, NSU, or Tech to either not exist or be merged into one. Probably also means that one of the older universities in south Louisiana (ULL, McNeese, SELU) would be even bigger for those who wanted to stay within an hour from their home.

In places like New Hamphire, North Carolina, New York, Virginia, yea. In the Deep South, not so much. Look at Starksville and Tuscaloosa, both dumps.
To many trashy locals. BR is bad enough with Livingston Parish, Port Allen and Central so close.

Better question is how terrible would BR be if LSU wasn't there as an anchor? No Southdowns, no lakes, no highland Rd as we know it,etc.
