I hate it, during the day when I'm not at home I've started setting my thermostat to 78 and while at home 75 then to sleep 70. Only reason is I'm tired of 400+ bills during May, June, July, August, and September

Is it? I have 3,200 sq ft and a single 2-ton unit the cools the house perfectly well. It is a well designed and properly sized zoning setup.

KC isn't metro Houston. Our "feels like" temperate is 20 degrees higher than your "feels like" temp today. True temp is 91.

Every single one if your threads you start on here is bitching about, or asking questions about money. Yet you live in a 3200 sq ft house with one other person and a baby...and a fricking koi pond.

Maybe your money issues are due to your choices.

With a baby, it seems likely y’all would be washing and drying lots of things. AC, dryer, pool pumps…things like that can really drive up the bill.

Might be worth getting your AC checked out and cleaned. Make sure the coils are clean and that you’re changing your filter often so it doesn’t have to work as hard.

If it’s an older house, you might also have someone take a look at your attic insulation. Other problems in the attic could be busted or leaking ductwork causing you to lose cold air and the AC running more to compensate.

Do less laundry, turn the AC up a couple degrees, add insulation, heavy drapes for rooms that get afternoon sun. All sorts of things you can do.

We’re 2700 sqft two story with pool pump, no kids, spray foam insulation, and we came in at $368 for the last bill.

well there is your problem, baw.

My last one was $80ish and I've been running the AC on 76 when not at home, 70 in the evening, and a window unit in the bedroom at 67 at night. 950 SF, I don't need any bigger than that. I put some extra insulation in the attic a few years ago and it made a huge difference.

Our "feels like" temperature can break 120 up here. We dont get it for long stretches but we get plenty of heat and humidity with dew points up to 80F. The cooling setup here can hold set point up to about "feels like" 110.

We hit "feels like" heat index of 134 last august.

ac, dryer, microwave, and hair dryers eat up a lot of electricity

That seems...excessive.

We just had new windows put in a week ago so I'm anxious to see our first full electric bill after doing that.

Typical.

Did you typo in an extra zero? Damn dude, my water bill for the entire year only runs ~$350 total. You need to turn that expensive nasty fish pond into a rock garden.

Your first warning should have been the Aggy logo, even without knowing the specific poster.

This is yesterdays temperature in Hell Az. 1400 sq ft house, keep the air at 75 - 76 and the highest bill so far was $110 a month. Thank you solar panels.
