I hear people talk negatively like this all the time on this board about people that live in HOA neighborhoods. Most people buy their house for the location and features of the house. HOA or non HOA is just something that comes with it and only really matters at the time of purchase if the monthly fees are so high that it impacts the affordability of the house, or the rules restrict something you want to do, like park your RV in your front yard. For most people it doesn't matter until something crazy like the OP happens.

What color was the person living in the garage? Must have been white to get this response. Had they been Latino or AA, the HOA would have demanded more homes let people live in their garages

Yes. The continued brain washing continues daily from every possible angle.

It doesn't have to be the crazy things

I hear the little things from my friends that live in HOA neighborhoods all the time, about how they can only plant the approved hedges or trees in their front yard, have to get approval on the color of their front door, can't put out the garbage bin until the morning it is being picked up, getting interrogated about a home gym and whether or not he was running a business out of it, etc

Making the right choices in life is a benefit... Like not moving into and area with an HOA...

We've got a community pool. Although I hate pools I'm good with that. Gym would depend on the cost and what equipment is available. My neighborhood has a couple of "family" events each year that basically turn into parties for the adults. I'd just as soon do away with those and keep the money.

He was not happy...

Auburn Greens Unit 1 Homeowners Association mandates leaving garage doors up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

So the solution to one homeowner allowing someone to live in their garage is to force everyone to leave their garage doors open all day long so that thieves have easy pickings while everyone is at work? HOA's are supposed to protect property values...not destroy them by coming up with this kind of ridiculous BS rules that'll end up causing a big increase in theft around the neighborhood

I am sorry. They interviewed a nine year old for this story? Yeah, right. This is BS.

Damn, California really taking their Progressiveness to the next level.

C'mon Illegals and Shitheads, you deserve free stuff from others, come take what you want from these peoples garages. Free of charge.

When i first heard of this, i thought maybe people were boarding illegals, and having 5-8 people living in their garages.

I saw this last night on Reddit, this is unbelievable.

Just for info, your quoted text doesn't divulge the reason for the rule: people were living in garages. I understand the reason for the rule but this is just stupid. What about people that use their garages as full workshops? I have several thousand dollars worth of tools in my garage, no way in hell I'm leaving my garage door open while I'm at work.

I'd close my garage and tell them to get fricked on $200. I get HOA rules, but im not adhering to some stupid rule they made up AFTER I bought my home.
