Yeah... im getting a bit worried now. My parents refused to evacuate because I am essential.... not only did our director tell us that we aren't on the clock continuously but now i can't get in contact with my parents... and me and the other workers are trapped in our yard and its being torn apart....

My sister and BIL are there. It's bad, but so far no major damage. They aren't out of the woods yet. Ida ain't in no hurry.

The ones I talked about last night that stayed have extensive damage to their homes, roofs completely gone, water rushing in, etc. This is a nightmare.

What i think happened was the mesovorticies weve been talking about got kicked off by the friction as it ran into its first actual bit of land.

While I like watching storm chasers, and I respect what they do, I wish some of them would go after helping folks pick up the pieces of their lives with half the commitment they do the storm. Seeing alot them tweeting smiling pics from their hotels tonight is kind of hard to watch.

I think I'll take note of who sticks around a while and who cuts and runs at the first chance.

Maybe, but there's nothing at this point that would suggest a "turn" to BR.

People seem to have hard time accepting that it’s not going directly over BR. The wind the last hour in BR has been kicking though.

Assumption isn’t doing bad, especially relative to expectations 36 hours ago. Solid bands rolling through. I guess it has another 60-120 mins of pain.
Thanks

The eye is slowing filling in on radar. It has gotten very small now.

Unbelievable to me. These things always break down rather rapidly after coming ashore.
Not this fricker.

Best case scenario. Lake Charles was out 3-4 weeks if I remember correctly and outlying areas even longer after Laura

28 days during a brutal heat wave.

Power now out by Woodland Ridge.
Wind is ramping up big time outside. What are the gusts now and what is it supposed to get to? Still think the worst wind at 11-1130pm?

When’s the last time we saw a storm move so slowly thru a major metro area and weaken so slowly? Seems like the eyewall has been bearing down for hours

I 100% agree. I've seen nothing like that eye, particularly how long it produced mesos. Unreal.
