Not a good idea honestly.
People in BR for example are running away from this.

Laura was amazing to me since Rita was my only other experience with a major hurricane. My town was trashed beyond recognition. 35 miles west in Beaumont you could barely tell there had been a storm.

Man the perfect brutal scenario is this thing hits and slows down and just hovers then starts turning East and those back bans hover again. I’m starting to get very nervous. For all of us in SELA. We’re going to take a fricking beating.
The eastern shifts combined with the pressure drop and complete lack of plane analysis isn’t looking good. By the time they finally get data and update it it’s going to be a shock.

PJ has already said that this will be a non event for south Louisiana. He predicts a few mild gusts, a light shower and nothing more

How good is the gfs at predicting rainfall? Horrible solution for that model
It UNDERESTIMATED the rainfall for Harvey, not that it means a whole lot. It was showing around 20" for Harvey.

I went from worrying about some branches in the yard and swings on the porch to damnit now I may have to clear pine trees over here in Pearl River County MS.

Y'all have got to stay calm. At this point there's nothing to do but strap in and ride it out. Panicking won't help anything, especially your decision-making from here on out.

I'm not familiar with your exact levee situation down there, and that matters in this case. This is going to push a lot of water at the southshore, and especially on the westbank of the river.
You're also likely to catch the eyewall of what I expect to still be producing isolated Cat 3 conditions and a good bet you'll get 115+ gusts.
Everything south of New Orleans is a sketchy proposition at this point.

How would it be a shock? The projected path has remained the same for 4 days now.

Morgan City to Grand Isle is quite the shift for landfall…

I’m evac’d. I’m talking about the entire city of New Orleans being destroyed and everything I’ve worked for being evaporated.
While others on here gloat and jump for joy.

We’re inside the levee protection with 7.5 foot levees.
Lake Catouache and Salvador are to our South East
I feel helpless. We were going to go to Southaven
