look at this and tell me on top of storm surge, how can NOLA handle this?

It can’t. They don’t even have the pumps working, they didn’t order an evacuation, the city administration now makes the 2005 administration look like MENSA members, the population is even more helpless, etc..

This is going to be a very long few days.

Why does it seem like Nola is worse off on these last few models and BR in better shape?

More banding on the eastern side of the system

Another break in the convection on the west side...let's see how long it takes to fire some storms over there.

00Z NAM Nest looks better as for as overall precip:

The NAM does push the higher totals farther East toward NOLA than on the 18Z run.

Anyone in Baton Rouge just step outside and notice how dead calm the conditions are? There’s not even a slight breeze. It’s a little off putting since usually it’s pretty windy before a hurricane arrives.

Eh, I’ve been in a solid amount of hurricanes where it’s dead before. Not surprising to me

So only 5.5 inches of rain for BR in that graphic. Not bad

Nola will flood, not likely from surge.

The pumps will be outpaced by the rainfall but if they all remain functional that graphic looks a lot scarier than it actually is for the city. Also keep in mind that that graphic goes from 29th to 31st

1-10 east bound update for people that are interested. This was as of 20 minutes ago.

Was coming west bound from Tallahassee to Mobile and it was heavy traffic starting at Panama City all the way to Mobile.

Bucky’s in Foley was slammed with almost 90% of tags from Louisiana. They have plenty of gas and supplies.

Insane amount of rain on the eastern side of Ida compared with only a couple of inches of rain for me on the eastern side of Laura.
