Won’t happen this time but wind damage could be worse
Slidell took it directly on the chin from Katrina’s wind as the eyeball (sic) passed right over.

I've asked this multiple times and haven't gotten an answer...When the 4 pm updates come out, which time of the model runs are they using? The 12Z which were run at 7am today or the 18z which were run at 1pm today? It was said earlier that the models take hours to run and then the NHC has to do more work with them to make a prediction. Thanks.

What? I don’t think people understand what made Katrina bad for New Orleans.
The flooding?

Looking at a track right now that this guy says is from NHC, and it's east of Houma.
ETA: Southwest Louisiana Weather on Facebook.

The 15 feet of water was bad.
Obviously but people just lump every big storm in with Katrina. Strong storm near NOLA does not equal another Katrina.

People from White Castle don’t evacuate…..my elderly mother told me this am “she will get in the shower with my father and put hard hats on if it gets too bad”…..freezer management excuses etc….you can’t change their minds

Slidell had water marks halfway up billboards on I-10 from the surge.

I think he’s referring to the TNT

You’re gonna hear this over and over again real soon, so just get ready. “Might be weeks…”
And then it never is

You'll be able to get out tomorrow morning. It might be raining
Anyone seen a timeline for projected windspeeds yet?

Mine in JDP came back on a week and a half after Laura.
Two guys I work with-one south of LC and one north of LC were still using generators 4 weeks later. It took 1 week to get traffic lights on Nelson Road back on.

Cut the trees back from the house/gutters.
Secured all loose outdoor items.
Cut grass.
All vehicles gassed up.
Ice in ice chests.
Bourbon supplies stocked.
4 full propane tanks.
About as ready as I can be.

How do y’all think White Castle will fare with this
It has the potential to do hundreds of dollars in improvements.

Same thing with April 27, 2011 and any severe weather setup in the MS/AL area.

In 40 minutes the NWS is going to have a new update which will be beneficial. Quit worrying about rumors. Wait 40 minutes and we will know what the experts are thinking and then we all will have z as better grasp of the situation.
It would help if we had some recon.
What’s the fricking deal with the recon planes? I swear the US govt has become so inept its pathetic
There should constantly be planes going in and out of a potential major hurricane a day away from hitting the coast

I just got back from setting nets. Left from the house. I hope this thing goes East another 50 miles.

It would help some here more than others. Would it help the NHC guys is the key. I’d think so and I don’t understand them not having a plane in Ida now.
