I think Duke and Rds actually have degrees. Others may, but I’m not sure.

Do you know chance of hurricane force winds in NOLA metro. There a message from UNO chancellor floating around saying "The likelihood we would see hurricane force winds in New Orleans, namely a category 1, is put at below 5%.   They say there is “no possibility” of the storm being higher than that in New Orleans.  Since the storm has passed Cuba, they are very confident in their prediction at this point, which is consistent with the National Weather Service."

NHC Wind Probabilities

45% chance of hurricane force in New Orleans as of now.

Do remember, rds has multiple degrees and years of professional experience.

If you know, you want to know what the tiers actually look like here.

Ah I thought you started grad school last year. Did covid/lack of in-person classes change your plans?

Yes and having the baby and needing to do the house husband thing since my wife is working from home. Also needed to pick up a couple of classes to hit NWS requirements (i'd happily just do that with a BS), which I did this summer online.

Just did some research on the gas stove models that can be manually lit during power outage (without workaround).
Here’s what I found.
quote:

From personal experience and recent reading of posts here, my recollection is that at least the current dual fuel models from GE, Bosch/Thermador, Frigidaire, Samsung, DCS, Miele and Wolf all can be lit manually during power outages.

I did find there is a Wolf model that won’t.
quote:

Model IM15/S starting with serial number 16115412 cannot be manually lit. An electronically activated gas solenoid valve was added to the IM15 at serial number 16115412 that prevents manual ignition.

Sounds it’s some of the Whirlpool brands/models that may have the safety feature.
quote:

The most frequent complaints were about some of the higher-end Electrolux dual fuel ranges that are interlocked, and all of the Whirlpool-made double-oven ranges with gas burners. The Whirlpool complaints included all of its brands such as Kitchenaid, JennAir, Amana. Maytag and the analogue versions sold at Sears under the Kenmore brand.
