So have they narrowed down the strength yet? Earlier today the WC said it was better chance it will be a 2 than a 4.

Is that still the case?

Model runs are trending lower strength.

I’ve been on calls all day for work. The official forecasts we use and are getting are not anything like what I’m seeing on local news. This is a very serious situation, but there is basically zero chance Baton Rouge sees 130 mph winds. It’s likely going to cause massive power outages and tree damage, but you can’t really compare this to Laura. There’s too much land between BR and landfall.

I’m not trying to minimize this in any way, it’s a very dangerous storm and it’s going to be a rough 12 hrs starting tomorrow afternoon. But I wish people wouldn’t post doomcasting graphics with no info.

Question about Houma: Highlands Ct apartments off S. Hollywood. Anyone familiar with it? I know someone who will not leave. Stupidity defined. Might it withstand what’s coming?

Good if you like intensifying systems, bad if you want it to be weaker.

Not good if you're hoping for a weaker hurricane.

Ida keeps wobbling right of track or more east. This is not what SE LA wants to see. Trends are not good right now for a miss west. #lawx
@FOX8NOLA

False. This is exactly what BR wants to see

I will say that the decision not to issue mandatory evacs in NOLA was a gamble. Let's how it pays off.

Depends on if you like stronger winds or slower winds.

If it spins faster, then faster winds.

I’m assuming the “phew” here isn’t a sigh of relief.

So we are seeing it getting stronger and moving slightly east. That is the short of it?

Nope. That's a good jump as far as potential for RI is concerned.

Lake Charles didn't see 130 mph winds.

Gusts? Yes. Sustained was 100 mph. Cat 2 conditions.

What people need to remember is Cat 2 conditions will frick stuff up because 100 with gusts 130+ will frick stuff up.
