CAT 4 coming in there would worse than Andrew. Lots of land lost since the 90’s flooding would be a real issue for people that haven’t before.

Land maybe gone, but the new levees should give the populated of parts Terrebonne a standing chance.

Would be mainly a wind event especially if it stays moving.

This week, I heard some one make the point that geographically speaking, the Mississippi River ridge helps shield Terrebonne and Lafourche from these types of storms as the water gets trapped in the Lake Borne area and cannot wrap around the system.

Also I remember, Gustav was a wind event in Terrebonne as the surge was primarily to the East and ended up almost flooding New Orleans again.

Zeta was hauling arse - like 25+ MPH by landfall.

I was in BR for Katrina, but the airport is in JP, not Orleans. I figured if Houston Intercontinental had planes going up when half of Houston was still underwater, Kenner could have the airport up without flooding issues being present

Why you flying out of there instead of Houston? or for that matter LC? you are lawyer with no kids, quit being a cheap arse

I try to fly out of LC as much as possible but this isn't a question for me.

Zeta was moving very fast... this one won't be moving anywhere near as fast... meaning much more time for the storm to do damage in 1 particular spot

Environmental conditions are expected to remain ripe for strengthening thru landfall, and could contribute to the system reaching major hurricane intensity (Cat 3-5).
File this under my contribution to the "private meteorologist" matter. Came in via email from my Fortune 100 company's weather team. FWIW. YMMV.

I assume you're heading to the UCLA game? Why not just fly out of HOU?
