Bertha is nearing a more favorable shear environment soon but running out of time over water.
If she can skirt the Louisiana coast there may be a window of moderate strengthening before Texas

The "storm surge" touched the dunes in Perdido Key overnight. Gusty arse wind and rain the whole time.

wind is still out of the north in biloxi. we will have some surge and winds out of the south later today

What is the law in Texas now?
It used to be, you owned the waterfront so long as it had vegetation. But if waves ripped the greenery up, the land reverted to public ownership. And IIRC you weren't allowed to replace that which nature removed.

Here in Fort Morgan the waves are very rough and the water is lapping up to the first row of beach houses but no rain really. Wind is steady at about 30mph, gusting up to 50.
I can see how a hurricane would be a real problem. But this feels like it’s gonna be gone tomorrow and we won’t really know any different

Water is over the dock in BSL but tide is now falling so by the time we get our projected 2-4' of storm surge this afternoon I'd imagine it won't be much of an issue for most.

Just checked my camp in BSL and water is not over my dock yet or on the grass. Low tide at 6 pm is going to help a bunch with knocking the surge down some. It was a big high tide today, too.

Just rode Ponce De Leon. Water came up past the road at a couple of the beach accesses. Couple port o potties down and Vacationers trash spread everywhere from leaving full trash cans at the road overnight.

When I was stationed at Keesler, a civilian woman I worked with husband was a navigator on the Hurricane hunters. Got to talk to him a few times about his job. Interesting to say the least.

Serious question, why has this storm's map projection not aligned with the radar pretty much this whole time?
Even now the map shows the "center" right under Biloxi yet the radar has 90% of the storm under Morgan City.
