re: Shallow water anchor - trying to avoid beaching - BeerThirty
Like someone above said, use one size up danforth anchor, 6’ of chain, and the rougher it is the more line you need to pay out. That slip ring is good for a stern anchor when you’re trying to just keep it from swinging, and the mushroom won’t do anything for you. Marsh anchor is another good option,...

re: Biden administration withdraws from Connecticut transgender athlete case - BeerThirty
Not to disrupt this love fest, however, I will say this is probably one of the better conversations I have seen between folks on exact opposite sides of the aisle, and folks in the middle. Lots of disagreement going on but still just that, a conversation. I think it says a lot to yalls service hones...

re: Electrician cost per hour - BeerThirty
Oh shite yea I didn’t realize that. Literally just hanging new everything, no replacing, No pulling wire, adding boxes etc. You’re absolutely correct. No way in hell it should be that much. MAYBE half that for an electrical company to come do that, prob closer to a grand if someone were doing it on t...

re: Electrician cost per hour - BeerThirty
Not as horrible as it looked on the surface originally. Are they removing the existing fans/lights then rehanging the new ones? With the amount of work on that list I don’t think it’s too far off. Most will charged per light, receptacle, etc vs hourly. Adding new electrical anything in existing c...

re: Electrician cost per hour - BeerThirty
Man when I was a younger man wiring houses (20ish years ago) that’s what it cost to rough in an entire spec home. About the same to trim it out too. That’s stupid high even now. I would definitely get an itemized list from that boss and see just how in the hell he can account for that price. ...

And only 2 boxes of ammo total, not 2 boxes of 9, 2 of 223, etc. At least that’s what the one on Siegen in BR said. Stupid. ...

re: Need to ODB advice. Neighborhood Dog attack. (Thank goodness for security cams) - BeerThirty
Lonnie, that dog looked like a bullet out of a gun going straight at yours. Like several others said, I would definitely escalate this with the authorities AND talk to that owner, but I would have a hard time with that dog in my neighborhood. I’m a dog lover, but I would have had 0 problem extermina...

I had St Gabriel hardware work on my gator tail that sat up 2-3 years and was not expensive and has been running great since. 4-h equipment on walker south road worked on my stihl saw and did well too. ...

Stay on the houseboat at bud n Mary’s. Awesome experience waking up in the mornings and watching, from our houseboat patio on the outside of the marina, the boats headed out then in the afternoons boats coming in. Plus 1 on going to robbies and feeding the tarpon. I would have spent our charter mone...

re: Just got a Lab puppy... - BeerThirty
Oh mine is a big ol goober too. Slash dumbass slash idiot. He’s just bad. Sweet dog that gets to hang out freely with our 10 month old, but counter surfs like a muther. He has a soft mouth so will carry stuff around, until the moment he gets to sit down with said item then shreds like he was an 80s ...

Tiger Force by Michael Sallah and Mitch Weiss. Great read about what happens when you create a special force within a special force, and essentially turn them loose. It shows how crazy things and people got under the stress they had on them, day in and day out. ...

re: Just got a Lab puppy... - BeerThirty
I left my 4 year old chocolate out for the first time last week. Shut all doors and picked up any of the stuff he likes to grab. Didn’t tell my wife until after the fact. I was a nervous wreck when I got home, because he can be a Tasmanian devil, thinking he and I would both be sleeping outside tha...

re: Anyone have a water loving lab who hates showers? - BeerThirty
I was in the garage earlier and heard my wife raising hell with our chocolate. I look out the door, and he’s sudded up, bubbles flowing off of him as she yelled at him “here” with the hose still spraying. Finally had to go call him back to her and put his collar back on so she could wrangle him back...

re: Axis deer hunts in Texas - BeerThirty
We just did an exotic hunt with Rockwater Ranch in Rusk, Tx. 5 hours plus or minus from Baton Rouge. I’ve never done the high fence nor exotic hunt but I had a blast. It wasn’t much different than some of the deer hunting I do sitting in a box, except you didn’t know what the hell kind of animal was...

re: Dreading Tomorrow - Saying goodbye to my dog - BeerThirty
I just had to do this awful thing this week to my 8 year old lab mix. She had an aggressive cancer pop up in November and they gave her 3-6 months with treatment, 26 days without. She made it over 2 months with a good quality of life, but it spread in the last week and could no longer put weight on ...

re: Sighting in a rifle in Baton Rouge - BeerThirty
Furthest you can shoot at a range in BR is 25 yards. Iberville has a public range across the river that is 100 yards, or at Hunters Run in port Allen just south of the old bridge on 1. I can’t remember if you have to be a member or not to shoot on the rifle range though. ...

re: F250 Gasser Question/Problem - BeerThirty
Haven’t had the issue on my 250 but I did on a tundra about the same age. And it was a venting problem. I can’t remember exactly what the cause was but maybe a vent did not open, causing somewhat of a vapor lock? A pain in the butt but wasn’t overly expensive to fix at the time. ...
