I love the Miss St coach. She has shown absolutely zero emotion this entire game
I assume State will go to Faircloth if things get hairy here
State pitcher had pitched 3.25% of total State innings pitched this year coming into today. This is insanity.
I heard on the post-game radio show that since the softball girls wrapped up their Super in 2 that Dave asked a few of them to come down and pitch for today’s game.
So if OU/Texas/Florida win today, OKC will be made up of all of the Top #8 seeds

Dave called me last night after the game last night and asked me to head down. I’m starting on the bump today.
5 games and 5 run rules. That’s crazy.

Hopefully the ladies play loose in OKC since it feels like we are playing with house money now.

Plus there just arent any elite elite teams in NCAA this season. Alabama might be the closest thing to one
Bats have just been unbelievably hot so far. Kennedy is en fuego.
I have no idea who is gonna pitch for the Hogs today. Our whole pitching operation kinda relies on Dietz going 6+ innings

On the one hand, we’re kinda playing with house money at this point and should just get some guys some reps. But at the same time, our RPI is creeping up into a legitimate host position. A win over Top 5 RPI Auburn would probably help..
Not really sure why they ever thought it was a good idea to try and start our game on time. Probably pressured by ESPN.

Silly to let an entire season be on the line and have to play it in rain.

Gotta love season-ending injuries in Hoover in a meaningless tournament!
Pretty workmanlike performance from the Hogs tonight without having to throw Dietz or McElvain
The way they are presenting the seeds this time is taking me some getting used to. I assume baseball will be the same way.
The only things I didn’t love from this weekend were -

Herron only throwing 3 innings and didn’t look super sharp during those 3 innings. Hope there’s not something more going on there (injury, illness, etc). Was surprised we went back to Timmerman yesterday instead of Herron after we pulled Burnham.

Bell didn’t have a good weekend at the plate at all. We can’t afford another Ellis going cold in the post-season situation this year. Obviously our lineup is a lot more spread out this year than last but still.
Arkansas quietly won all 3 games this weekend via run rule.

In the past we’ve had a dominant arm and a dominant bat or two. This year, it really is more of a team effort. 3 above average pitchers but none are elite elite. A couple hitters that can knock the ball out of the yard but nothing like Ellis or Malkin from years past.

Maybe this is the formula we’ve been missing

Another game, another run rule.

Ladies dialed in through the Regional round. Will host the winner of Duke/Arizona in Supers next weekend

I don’t have a problem with him leaving nibler in too long. It’s a meaningless game, I think he was trying to answer the question “can this guy work himself out of a jam?” Now we know the answer is no, Same with the question “can eves pitch effectively 2 days in a row?”

This is kinda what I was thinking too. Maybe I’m too deferential to DVH. But yeah it’s a meaningless game, we are probably on the road for a regional no matter what. It’s not like we have a stable of good arms to turn to in the bullpen. DVH knows we’re gonna need Gibler to work out of this funk to have any chance at a deep run. I bet you see him again in Hoover.

Still remember Arizona coming to Bogle in 2021 and kicking our arse in the Supers.

It really is amazing how many home Supers the softball team has lost, considering its overall success (21, 22, and 25). Hopefully this is the year we finally get over the hump.
