No you didn’t. Real 6 footers are a bear to handle in a 27’ offshore boat.
After a day where we had 10’ seas off Grand Isle a month ago, I had a supply boat captain tell me “man, it got so snotty out there yesterday, we were 8 knots coming in” In a 200’ long boat.
So no, you didn’t go willy nilly play in 6 footers.

It should be Ozempic Bertha instead of Big Bertha

We should know more about what the storm wants to do in 24 to 36 hours

They were probably more like 6 inch seas

Small storms aren’t anything to scoff at. My buddy’s house in thib got 4 inches water for Francine. For Ida it was 2 feet away from the door. Trees on the house.
None of this is nice.
ETA;I was living there during Ida
This is from the plant in garyville for Ida. That night it sounded like a demon was outside.

According to the NWS reports when we got back to the shore that’s exactly what happened.
Was on Lake Michigan in a pop up thunderstorm before cell phone apps, was f’ing terrifying.
Don’t really care much whatever anyone wants to believe or not believe, I’d sure as hell never do it again and we didn’t do it on purpose, storm came up and it was lock in or die.
But no, I wasn’t “playing willy nilly” like the guy you were trying to respond to.

Also, do you think insurance companies collect deductibles?
In an accounting sense, yeah they kinda do.
I’m with the rest of your overall point here, though.

So what's the latest? Is Perdido Key going to be okay next weekend?

OK Mr smarty accountant pants.
Glad I can sleep tonight knowing State Farm isnt lobbying for more named storms since I dont actually have to write them a check made out to the Named Storm Damage account.

Well Bertha isn’t anything close to those 2 storms
Ida was a freaking hurricane that directly hit Nola
Bertha is a sheared TD
Posted on 7/20/26 at 10:25 pm to Midtiger farm
Nola directly? Might want to check up on that.
Posted on 7/20/26 at 10:25 pm to tigersownall
Nola always playing the victim
Houma took that one on the chin
