The IEP probably includes a BIP (behavior intervention plan) that addresses something like that for inappropriate physical conduct. I’ve seen it for autistic kids who self stim by touching themselves.
The school can still assign consequences as long as they follow the IEP. If they want to do something like alternative school they can, but there has to be a meeting to determine if the behavior or is a manifestation of the disability.
Also the police could possibly be involved but charges not filed yet. School wouldn’t be able to comment on investigations bc of FERPA. Also can’t comment or share infor about school consequences for the same reason.

Simmer down Francis. It is most likely a student who is mentally handicapped and in a small group class with similar students. The school can’t talk about it but if it was a kid served in general education you would get more to the story.
