The bill proposed by Pelosi, D-Calif., additionally seeks to eliminate debt held by the U.S. Postal Service, require same-day voter registration, pay off $10,000 in student debt per person, mandate that airlines reduce their overall carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2050, and force federal agencies to explain to Congress how they are increasing their usage of "minority banks." And, the legislation would provide for the automatic extension of nonimmigrant visas and restrict colleges from providing information about citizenship status. It would also allocate $35 million to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Thanks sounds like the Dems don’t want big business to get paid

I do agree with the argument that there is too much freedom and not enough accountability in what those corporations can do with the money, especially considering the requirements for the small business loan forgiveness requirements in the bill

And the 6 month window for disclosing is ridiculous

The job saving requirements should be stricter. It’s open ended and open to interpretation for big corporations. But these were all things that could have and should have been worked out between the two sides

The house bill is a joke

They proposed to offer 500 billion in loans that have to be paid back to large corporations in hard hit industries. No stock buybacks, no increase in executive compensation, no layoffs.

If the Dems don't like this than change the language in it and ask for a vote.

But no, let's build some windmills, fight climate change and change election rules

Meanwhile, they'll jet all over the world to setup emissions regulations for airlines. fricking hypocrites.

Exactly

Which is why I’m really hoping that asinine house bill was just something to get the sides to come to terms with the senate bill

All of us using porn mode finally did them in. They should be increasing revenue right now otherwise.

The Dems see it as unfair. 500mm slush fun will happen but with stiffer regulations than what’s proposed. Both the poor and those who qualify will end up receiving the same stimulus. Small businesses that will need to take our sba loans will be the real losers in this scenario.

So loaning money is a slush fund? There are stipulations on what they can use it for. Or would you just rather not have many airlines or hotels in a few months?

Subsides for ethanol and windmills are slush funds. We'll never see a dime of that back.

What exactly are these stipulations and how are they enforced?

How is it decided who received the aid?

It isn't either/or. You can want to remove things like the 6 month disclosure part. Yours is a false dilemma

And whether we pay off all USPS debt, regulate airline carbon emissions, create subsidies for windmills, change our election laws and form diversity requirements for publicly traded boards. Other than that, not much difference.

For this alone, I hope the Republicans say frick off.

If this shite passes with all of that crap in it, the Republicans have no backbone. Letting those 2 jackasses strongarm the Senate into what they want is pathetic. I don't care how many people it would affect, they cannot allow these 2 idiots to use this to get what they want. Expose them for what they are. Lay it at the feet of the Democrats until hopefully the rest of them turn on those 2 pathetic excuses for public servants.

I would rather not have any of it. This constant pumping by the fed (which is now unlimited as of yesterday) only delays the inevitable. We need a reset badly.

Give money to businesses that were shut down to cover payroll or let people go back to work. Either way, people can pay their bills.
