How much do the Republicans want to pay Americans and how much do Democrats want to pay Americans??
Which Americans are you talking about? And which Americans will be paying rather than getting paid?

The problem is the other side.
Most businesses can't afford a loss of 50% or more of income. Yeah near term people can go work at Walmart and Rouses as a cashier but once this blows over those jobs are out the window. Retail is always looking to cut costs and the number one disposable cutback is man hours. So then where do those getting laid off go?
There has to be something not just for immediate use by citizens but also something to protect small businesses for the next few months.

I’m no economist, but I’m skeptical about WHY we need a 2 trillion stimulus package.
It's a payoff to the public and industry for compliance that hurt many. However, it appears there are things they're trying to push through that have nothing to do with the virus or recovery.

Maybe it's just me, but if I expected to see penis I wouldn't have opened the thread.

And whether we pay off all USPS debt, regulate airline carbon emissions, create subsidies for windmills, change our election laws and form diversity requirements for publicly traded boards. Other than that, not much difference.
You forgot pay raises for the House and additional construction for the Capitol

Crazy times we live in. Republicans become socialists and Democrats become capitalists!

Raising your own pay check is pretty capitalist!

It is and it always is. Republicans will try to tell you it's a DNC thing. It's both sides. They're just arguing over who benefits. In neither case will it be the public.
I honestly do not get how people cannot see this clear as day. I hear from people, friends and family, in political talks or through social media these days about how they hate this party or that for x, y, z reasons. All the while being tone deaf to the faults of the party they support! People like that are part of the fricking problem.
Both sides are corrupt, nearly all politicians are and have been for a very long time. Our entire political system is broken and the citizens are the ones who suffer while the politicians, both Republicans and Democrats plus any other party they want to identify with, laugh all the way to the bank. Until we the people demand major reform in politics, which I’m not holding my breath on, it’ll just continue.
Term limits and more restrictions/transparency on campaign contributions are great places to start. Sadly, I don’t see that happening soon if ever.

Vast majority of posters here are afflicted with tribalism. They'll never see things objectively.
