Front wheel drive car with decent all season tires can handle most winter weather conditions.

This is just stupid. This is absolutely stupid. I hope someone challenges this and wins. I agree that people driving are causing issues if they get stuck. But for some hick town department saying if you are stuck and are not in a 4 wheel drive you will get a ticket is embarrassing.

If you would have seen the amount of cars, mainly Nissan Altimas, spun out and ditched on Hwy 165 yesterday in Sterlington you might change your stance. No driving sistas had a whole US highway grid locked. Im pretty don't tread on me, but it was a real problem

I agree with this but only having a 4 x 2 is a virtual guarantee you're gonna end up in the ditch.

Nah. Hick towns in the vicinity include goodwill, mer rouge, and any town between Monroe and Alexandria along 165. Sterlington maybe small but there are plenty of wealthy ppl that live there.

ETA: I’m talking about the town / area on 165 where Sterlington high school is and where the police were complaining about no 4x4 vehicles. If you’re taking about Sterlington on hwy 2 yes it’s a hick town.

Uh, try running off the road into a ditch in the summertime and see if you don't get a ticket for failure to maintain, reckless driving or any number of other tickets they could write you. Whats the difference? You lost control of your shite and ran into a tree.

Advanced level snow/ice driving knows to put some weight in the back of the bed.

My Ranger had a hard tonneau cover, kept several bags of salt and cat litter in the bed on a tarp. Probably 300lbs extra weight which helped a bit.

I have been there multiple times. It is not a thriving metropolis and the way the police department is acting, I consider it a hick town.

A buddy of mine is on the Iowa State patrol he writes a metric ton of citations in snowy conditions. Failure to maintain control is the usual. If there has been any treatment on the road and you wreck you’re going to be written.

I have been chained up white knuckling it up a forest service road looking for a safe spot to turn around and been passed on the cliff side by a busted and rusted 2 wheel drive nissan with no chains and a driver with extremely heavy boots.

Mountain folk are legitimately insane.

Are they writing tickets for people with 4x4s who crash and block the road?

Yeh, drove through it yesterday. There was no real issues on 165 until i hit Sterlington at the Frenchmans Bend intersection, and it was a nightmare. Saw this post shortly after i came through, and Im not mad at it. Its a survival out there right now for sure, but think they were just trying to dissuade the folks going to the gas station to get chips and a coke….
