Stay-at-home Parents (Families with one working parent)

Seem to be very exceptional nowadays.

Roll call - which OT'ers have a full-time parent at home for their child/children?

It seems almost non-existent in our sphere, but its the only thing our kids know (since they were born). Weird that its weird.

Our dual income will allow us to retire approximately 15 years earlier than if it was just one of us. No brainer for us.

My wife stayed home until my youngest son was 16 and had his own car to get back and forth from school and practice.

re: Stay-at-home Parents (Families with one working parent)
Since having children, I've stayed home full time, worked full time, and worked part-time. Even though the extra money is nice, I can say, without a doubt, that our home is a happier place when I don't work at all.

My husband's schedule is kind of crazy, and me being around all of the time allows him to go do what he needs to do. I take care of most things home and child related. It works for us.

Wife is a stay at home mom. It has plenty of benefits, she's fully involved in taking son to school and picking him up. Sits down to do homework with him all the time. She's aware of all school activities and participates when parents need to be involved.

I've had to do moonlighting jobs at home to keep this trend going on. I've already told her I cannot be doing this permanently and she understands. Kid is in 2nd grade.

Wife stayed at home since 1st was born 12 yrs ago. We've always been frugal and invested a large percentage of my income. I've been home too since recently early retiring at 45.

Is that bad?

I also got a $12K Christmas bonus. So made around $67K.

I know its not OT baller status, but not too bad.

I love my child, but I can't stay home with him. We are far too similar and would butt heads constantly. I don't have the patience to teach him and he likes the social interaction at daycare. He was excited today that it was Thursday so his french teacher was coming.

Now, let me be a stay at home wife and I'd thrive.

I work so my wife doesn't have to. She gets to stay home and take care of the house, spend my money, and look pretty.

Pre-zent.

Some years have been easier than others, financially. But it works for us. We have our roles, and know them pretty well.

That's not what I even meant, but nobody gets it anyway. I was thinking more of a fraternity house mother. Should have named myself Big Hairy Baw for some respect! Can I do that?

Wife is a stay at home mom, she works harder than me in a lot of ways. There’s plenty to do when taking care of a house and children.

Women have lost sight of what it actually use to mean to be a housewife. I’ll still retire early, leave my children better off than myself and we have more than we need. That’s a win.
