It sounds like what they're saying is white students are held to a higher standard and thus disciplined at a higher standard because it's assumed that they are more capable and have naturally higher expectations than what is expected of black and Hispanic students.
Seems kind of racist to me.
Also, note the subtle racisms in the wording of the article to elevate the importance of blacks and hispanics while diminishing the importance of whites.
Most people probably skim over this without noticing and if they do notice they think, how petty, and ignore it. The truth is racisms rarely wears a hood and burns crosses in people yards anymore, but it's alive and prospering just under the surface, where it can grow without being dealt with as it should.

More and more people are making excuses for ghetto culture. Not black culture, even tho the two are intertwined, but ghetto culture.

Probably not. He was involved in a lot of self-destructive behavior that mostly went unpunished, and unpublicized. Bad policies, and poor parenting pretty much guaranteed his path to meeting somebody, at night, that had a gun and was willing to defend themselves.
Who the last person he met is, was unimportant. His path was clear.

What I take from this is they expect white students to be better behaved so when they misbehave they’re punished harsher. When a black student acts up it’s expected because “that’s how they are” so they get off easy.

I love the liberal idea that poor and lower class white people still have "white privilege." This is completely asinine and hope someone challenges it on equal protection grounds when a white kid is punished more harshly than a minority.
