One step would be to get the fedgov to relax the intense safety standards they force automakers to abide. Safety is nice obviously but those 10 airbags come at a steep price. Second would be to revamp the mileage irrational requirements.

I not sure the Trump admin could accomplish these things. But I'm damn sure a Harris admin DGAF about changing those things. "just buy an electric car".

Commuters who can charge at home and want to pay <$40k for a new car with awesome driver assistance features.

Honestly when my daily driver gives out though I might just go get a Kia K4 or K5. Sub $30k commuter car. Unless Chevy can get me a Silverado Custom trim for $35k like 2020 again

2013 RAV4 and I will drive it until it falls flat on the ground never to get moving again. I much prefer not having a car note and my insurance keeps going down a bit each renewal.

There are $15k off deals. Shop around on internet. Some Stellantis dealers still have 2023 models they are trying to get rid of. Most are out of state though.

I watched a video yesterday with a one year old jeep grand wagoneer. It had 23k miles and lost $40k equity over ONE year. The $100k vehicle was traded in and listed for sale for $60k. Someone paid the msrp plus the adjusted market value and was seriously upside down.

Let them sit on the lot until they offer a reasonable price, that’s how the system is supposed to work.

60k is actually not that much for truck now a days

thats the fricking crazy thing

before biden....60k would get you one of the best trim packages...now that is the trim barely above the basic package.

fricking insane and my wife wonders why i keep my 10 year old tundra.

Jeep still wants over $100k for Wagoneers and Ram and others often have $100k on the bigger work trucks if they are at the higher trim levels. Even the bottom trim levels are stupidly priced. There is no interest rate that makes those prices reasonable.

The American people are mostly made up of idiots who want the latest and greatest tech or feature and are willing to bankrupt themselves to get it.

Auto manufacturers have capitalized on that for the last 3 years, and are unwilling to give up all that profit on each vehicle. Something will break soon, it has to. They can't maintain that inventory for long.

Building only luxury vehicles where you can add massaging seats for $50 and charge $5K more needs to come to an end.

I did. Other than having to go to Pensacola to get it due to Louisiana not allowing direct to consumer, I've loved owning a Tesla.

Hilux for the win. I literally watched two Ghanians repair one with an adjustable crescent and a rock. Hopped in, cranked it up, got on down the road.

40% in one year is high, but so is 23k miles. What would you say a more "average" depreciation is for such a vehicle after on year?

Not sure what a more average depreciation would be. Although I can say after 12 months a 40% decrease in value seems drastic. There is not that much depreciation with other vehicles. Maybe it’s because of the stellantis decline. Right now some grand cherokees are listed at $71k. A person can get a Mercedes or BMW at that same price point for the same size vehicle and not have such depreciation after 12 months.
