Sporting Ticket Event Scam - Do I owe?

Genuinely curious.
Younger guy at my office asked if i wanted to go to the Stars playoff game tonight. He said he found some good tickets for a price (something like $115-$150 per). I thought about it and said "sure let's go" leaving it to him to get the tickets as he already had begun the process.
3 hours later he just got scammed on these tickets, paid and these people disappeared, so he's out probably $250-300. My question is, am I responsible for half in any way? I am probably 50/50 on if I am, so i will turn to the undefeated minds of the OT for guidance. I see very good reasonable arguments on both sides
What say you

Nope, he was the dumb arse who got scammed
ETA: If he is a close friend of yours, I would probably pay after giving him some crap about it

no, why should you be charged a dumbass fee?

His fault for getting scammed. He was in charge of getting the tickets and fricked it up.

I wouldn't pay. That's on him for being a dumb dick and buying fake tickets.

If you think about it, he wouldn't have even tried to purchase the tickets if he didn't have anyone to go with. But for your agreeing to go, he wouldn't have been scammed. Thus, you are responsible for 100% of the lost money.

No, he got scammed, not you.

While I'd probably feel for the guy, he fell for the scam himself without you, so I'd say it's on him.
But if you had given him the money to buy the ticket, would you expect him to give you your money back?

How trustworthy is this guy? He could be scamming you.
If its a true story i dont think you owe anything. His fault.

He probably found someone else he'd rather go with and just made up the scam story instead of telling you he's going with someone else.

He asked you and took it upon himself to get the tickets.
That's on him. And how this transaction take place?

Email the Stars marketing department.
You never know what they might do.

I would pay. shite happens.

I think he's scamming YOU. You will end up giving him $150, then he will tell you he's not going to the game, while you're watching the game you will see your buddy sitting by your wife in glass seats. So he took your money and your wife. If that's not completely obvious then I don't know what is

If he’s a good friend I’d probably at least offer to pay. Doubt he’d accept it though if he’s a good friend.
If it’s just some random dude you know not a chance
