You do. If this was an online transaction, he failed to even look at ticketmaster and stubhub. And you can check the tickets to make sure they are legit before buying.

He's a 24 year old kid, so I think he tried to go through like craigslist or something of the like. I'm working out of the office today at a client site so I wasn't there.
Final result is if he doesn't get the money bank (he reported it as fraud to his bank) then I'll just buy him dinner.
So he's out $250-300 and I'll be out dinner (probably $50 a person or less depending on where we go)

Best way to handle it.
Personally, if I did something like that and I got scammed, I wouldn't expect the person to pay me. Since I took the responsibility to get the tickets, I think it would be on me if I went through the channels that allowed me to get scammed, but I am sure it was a lesson learned for him... And will at least get a good dinner out of it.
