It's the best way to lure unsuspecting locals to a "historic, colorful" neighborhood in Central City New Orleans or just east of Downtown in Baton Rouge.

I've never had any issues staying at AirBnBs in BR or NOLA.

Or anywhere really

Airbnb near LSU would be cool for game days.

Because the hotels are complete shite. Stayed at a Marriot Courtyard for work a couple years ago and it was on the same level as a run down Motel 6. It is really amazing how shitty Baton Rouge is.

Didn't they open that Courtyard on 3rd street a month ago? Looks pretty nice.

I’m going to buy a few homes in NBR and have them as Airbnb’s. They will be setup for white SJW’s who hate white privilege and want to experience other cultures.

Why would anyone need Air BnB in Baton Rouge?

'Cause getting a house for 6 people is generally substantially cheaper than 3 hotel rooms, my grandfather's house is full of mold and has poor air circulation, and the last time I stayed with my cousin I exploded out both ends for most of the night which I hold him fully accountable for.

Spanish Town, which sits in Wicker's district, is known to be a welcoming place, but maybe not to this new industry.

Except when you run through the neighborhood or walk a dog or practically anything else.

This is not a concern for any HoA neighborhood as most don’t allow short term rentals, and if they do they can change their rules usually.

It’s a simple way to curb and control this, you simply set up zones where they are allowed or not allowed. Multi use zoning areas for example are perfect for Airbnb’s. Many city ordinances already don’t allow multi family residences under the same roof, I’ve seen this used before to dissuade short term rentals. I agree that generally any neighborhood that’s is almost all residential housing is poor for Airbnb’s but again this is a zoning issue.

The same thing’s been going on in the fart sniffing parts of New Orleans for a while now.

Problem is the demand spikes so high for these things and the supply is so low that the prices are insane for anything close to the city.

You’ll have a futon in a kids studio apartment (shared with the student) for like 200 bucks a night

I have had several movie stars and directors stay in the AirBNB across the street from me.

Great news! I was just trying to figure out a new place to visit this fall. There’s so many things to see there now I’ve learned about on this board: traffic, flooding river, the north side cultural heritage, some truck nuts on the way to the plant in the mornings, etc

We all know the real reason an Auburn fan wouldn’t come to BR.

No lie. That shite made me for real

We used an AirBNB near O'Hare a few weeks ago to save some money when visiting Chicago. Worked out well even with using the Metra daily to get into the city($67 room versus $200 for cheapest decent rooms). However, I could see how some quiet suburban neighborhoods wouldn't like randos from around the world walking down their streets with luggage and shite waiting for Lyft/Uber.

That said, Spanish Town needs to put up or shut up with all it's self-proclaimed eccentricities and "cum one, cum all" image.

I cannot understand how people don't understand that what you do to your property can still have negative effects on a neighboring property.

EBR hasn't figured out how to tax it yet.

Stayed in a hotel in Baton Rouge a few months back. Paid an extra $27 in a hotel tax that was on top of the other taxes. My dad announced that he had proudly voted for that tax, because someone else would have to pay it.

Airbnb doesn't charge that tax, so anonymous spanish town cat lady can shove every single one of her cats up her twat and STFU.

How the frick does Airbnb commercialize an area? You're literally staying in someone's house.
