Doctors in Spain have complained of a lack of basic protective equipment as 514 people died with the virus in the country in a single day and the latest figures revealed that Spanish healthcare workers account for more than 13% of the country’s 39,673 cases.
Spain, the second-most affected country in Europe after Italy, has been in lockdown since 14 March, but is struggling to slow the spread of the disease, which has so far claimed 2,696 lives.
The Madrid region has logged 12,352 cases – almost a third of the national total – and 1,535 deaths.
With hospitals, funeral homes and crematoriums in and around the capital struggling to keep pace, an ice rink in the city has been pressed into service as a makeshift morgue and Madrid’s cavernous Ifema conference centre has been converted into a field hospital with capacity for 5,500 beds.

Is Spain culturally similar to Italy?
Multigenerational homes?
Tactile?
Old population?
Live close together?

You can’t bring up variables that might impact the spread and lethality of this virus here! And if you mention how Spain has had a crappy medical infrastructure then you’re just xenophobic.

Spain went ahead with their Women's Day March in Madrid that has somewhere around 350,000 people attend.
I got caught in the middle of it unaware in 2019 and it is a SHITSHOW. You would not believe the sea of people and how ludicrously packed the subway is.
That is part of the big reason for Madrid's problem right now I bet.
(Just to put it in perspective...Imagine if the entire population of the City of New Orleans, literally every single person, all converged on Canal Street and walked down it together, over to Poydras, and up Poydras, during the course of about 8 hours. That's what it is in Madrid, and that was pretty recent)

LA saw a massive influx of people from all over the world during Mardi Gras, which saw people crowded together for hours on end to catch plastic beads.
Hence why we are seeing a similar dynamic to states which are huge international travel hubs like California, Washington, and New York.

The US healthcare superiority myth is about to rock some people’s worlds. That somehow we aren’t just automatically better than a nationalized health service will shake them to their core

We bout to field test those rankings
