How is this noteworthy or even debatable?
Almost every major religion in the world has almost universal banned women from teaching roles for all of history.
All the major religious texts specifically forbid it.
Any denomination can obviously disagree and do some else, but they are contradicting the tenants if the very religion they claim to be.

Jews never had any female Kohens (Kohanim) so why would Christians?

Kudos to them. They are policing their doctrine and will not end up with splintered sects of SBs that believe all kinds of crazy woke stuff.

I'll echo what the other guy said, SallysHuman, you're one of my favorite "new" posters. A consistent breath of common sense fresh air

That’s for them to explain, I guess.. I still agree with them taking this stance- I think it is Biblical.
All flavors get stuff wrong- minor stuff. I think we agree on the big issues.
Sorry for the delay, was at the animal hospital with our dog all weekend.
I can appreciate that you feel how you feel on the subject and I agree that Christians can have differences on issues that are not of the highest importance sometimes and still commune together. I think a big part of this for me has to do with the SBC in general and their hypocritical approaches that they've taken to matters of abuse, sexual misconduct, finances, etc but will then turn around and hammer someone as a heretic and damn near an apostate if they dare to ask questions about women in ministry and what that role should be. I especially love how quickly they gloss over and water down the 21 expectations and qualities of deacons and overseers in the church when it suits the good ole boy network. They miraculously find quite a bit of wiggle room in that particular portion of Paul's writings.
They just ooze pharisee to me and I've never gotten along with folks like that.

It shows there is still a liberal faction rooted in there that if left unchecked will continue to grow in that over 2,000 delegates voted against it.
There is a portion of that 2,000 that voted against it because they felt it was unnecessary, that the restrictions were already in place. That it was fixing a problem that didn't exist. They still are against women being pastors just like the 6,000 that voted yes.

More man than God stuff in Religious orders. Not sure why that is God’s plan. Yet…

I only know a handful of SBC... My aunt and uncle being two of them- those two are definitely hypocrites and pharisees. I figured it was just them though.

Consider yourself lucky. I've, unfortunately, seen much of how the baptist sausage is made and it's ridiculous to watch tbh. It's operates like a big political machine, no doubt about it. I've watched them run some incredible pastors and leaders (all conservative men btw) out of the organization simply because of politics and BS. They walk around with an arrogant, entitled mentality that reminds me so much of the religious elites during Jesus' earthly ministry. Time and again I've watched them "stand on principle" when it suits them but drag their feet on matters that actually deserve attention.
A quick example, I knew of a young college student that effectively SA'd a female student. They were making out and he stuck his hands down her pants and when she said she didn't wanna go that far, he didn't stop immediately. Basically pushed her into continuing and when she wouldn't, he stood up and dropped his pants and stood in front of the door. She pushed her way past him and reported him to the authorities. The police said it was a he said/she said so legally not much came of it. This guy, however, came from one of the "in families" in the baptist world and was being prepped to become a baptist campus minister. When the church he was interning at asked him about what happened, he admitted the whole thing to them.
Keep in mind, this same baptist church (a big and influential one) was in the process of trying to kick churches out of the convention that didn't align with them on women in leadership and here they had a chance to do the right thing. What did this church do instead? They swept it under the rug, said "he's a good boy that made a mistake" and kept him on the runway to be a young baptist pastor where he still is today. These same people and leaders at this same church in town have been blasting other churches regularly for "not following what's clear in scripture" and have openly said in their messages how glad they are to "not be like those other churches that ignore God's word."
I can't stand the SBC and their little religious boys club and I honestly hope it burns to the ground. To be frank, I think Jesus has had some things to say on the matter and in my bible, entitled, arrogant, elitist religious guy is not the one you want to be when Jesus comes around.

To that point, there has apparently already been a female podcast host who has been disassociated from the SBC because leading a podcast was close enough to leading a church. No idea on the specific details; it was being talked about in SS yesterday.
