How does the umpire make that call? The batter is 3 feet out the box.
Because by rule her moving out the box puts her into the field of play it’s a stupid rule and intent needs to be judged by the umps here. By letter of the rule, the ump ruled correctly. By intent of the rule, he failed miserably.
This catcher and her coach should be fricking ashamed of themselves for this bush league bullshite n

I just saw a very similar play but the girl was hit in the stomach and may have been more egregious in a GA? playoff game, that ended the game with the bases loaded in a 1 run game.
Didn’t this happen a few years ago as well ?

Game was against south beauregard I’m pretty sure

By rule yes but there should be integrity in the rule with delay of catcher and integrity of an actual play trying to be made.
It’s only so if the batter interferes with the ability to make an attempted play by the catcher. The catcher was throwing the ball towards the 3rd base dugout. The batter was no where in line with any play.

It was a cheap shot but it’s not gonna get called. It’s a freebie for the catcher.

Yeah you’re right, it was South Beau not Westlake.

Civil suit against catcher, coach and catcher’s parents. Criminal prosecution in Calcasieu Parish.

It’s called using common sense. The catcher hesitated and the runner on 3rd was pretty much back on the bag.

Your interpretation is off. The entire point to be made is integrity of the intentions and the delay of the catcher to pretend to be making a back pick at 3

The catcher also threw the ball towards the 3rd base dugout

I agree with you, but that’s up to the umpires discretion and he is wrong here.

To be sure I understand this:
- the batter swung at the pitch then stepped away from the field (3rd strike?)
- the catcher ostensibly was making a pickoff throw to 3B
- the C then beaned the batter at point blank
- the obese ump then called the runner out at 3B due to interference
How is that interference? To me, it looked like the C intentionally did that. The 3B wasn't even at the bag.

I'd like to drill your stupid arse with a softball. Assuming your pathetic arse ever left your couch and the internet

The ball was thrown parallel down the line but would have probably been on foul side of 3rd. Again, it helps sort of validate the lack of integrity in play but it’s not against the rule to throw an off throw

No
That swing strike made count full
