By rule the umpire made the right call. Cant step out of the box. Using common sense would tell the umpire it wasnt by accident. It isn't the catchers first time to do this to someone and it wasn't even the first time in that game alone. Pine Prarie is a good team. The catcher is good. If she had missed the girls head the ball was going over the fence. She would never miss a pick off that badly.

I'm pretty sure a softball can't fit into the opening of the cage in the helmets the wear. However, it doesn't make what the catcher did even the slightest bit excuseable.

By letter of the rule she had to hinder the catchers ability to make a play. Did she do that? No. It failed even the “letter of the rule” test

Verbatim rule
The batter did not come close to interfering with the catcher throwing towards any runner at all. The batter interfered with the catcher throwing into the 3rd base dugout
For this to pass the “letter of the rule”, the rule would need to be “the batter steps out the box and the catcher hits them” would need to be the rule

if you notice which way the catcher "crow hops", she moves to her left. Had she intended to throw to 3rd she would've crow hopped towards the base. It was an intentional throw at the batter

But that's not what they see in tik tok videos, which is where they get their interpretations of the rules anyway. shite....half of the umpires get them from tik tok as well.

As far as the catcher, She is extremely intense. Yall should see the video of her getting into a fight in a parking lot with a grown woman when the kid was about 14. She whipped that woman's arse. It was a fist fight. Not one of them hair pulling things.
She knows the rules very well. I have no doubt she purposefully was attempting to get interference called. I do doubt she was trying to hurt the other player as much as she didnt worry about it if she did. She wanted the call.
She did hit a 3 run home run to tie the game on a 3-0 count. She is a Junior and a good player committed to LSUA, I believe.
