Took family to Disney last summer for first time. I thought it was ok but also way overpriced.

Universal is also overpriced but I enjoyed it much more than I expected. I actually want to go back to Universal one day but feel like we did the Disney thing and don't need to again.

I've only seen one of the Harry Potter movies but really liked two of those at Universal, along with all of the other simulated rides.

Hey demosa, you do know they have a gay week at Disney World?
That might be the better time for you and your faggie's to visit. There won't be any livestock for you to frick, but you can do your gay cheers and yelling and probably won't be teased about it.

Crowds are worse. Lines are longer. Experiences outside of Harry Potter are cheap with little variety. It has rides... Then what? And the parks are more expensive as are the resorts

Disney has rides and shows, restaurants, water parks, camping, water skiing, horse riding, shopping, races, wine and dine at EPCOT, resorts. Much of this centered around specific experiences from movies to international places to locals around the US. It's way more emersive and there's way more to do in and out of each park.

I probably feel differently because FL residents pay less for passes.

The big mistake a lot of people make is not planning or knowing the ropes. FastPass makes a lot of difference. The Parent Swap can come in handy too. You can book rides days or weeks in advance and skip the lines.

We went to Animal Kingdom on Saturday. With the Fast Pass we hit 6 rides in only a few hours.

Tap water with ice is free at every park. Bringing snacks for the kids is also allowed. If you stay at one of the Disney Resorts you can access some parks before the general public.

It's expensive, but putting in a little work beforehand makes a difference.

I would've agreed with you when I was standing in line over two hours for Elsa and Anna last year or this year standing in line for Space Mountain. We had a quick pass for Elsa and Anna but it was for 11pm. There was no way in hell we were going to be there at that time of night.

But we have a 6 year old daughter and for her its paradise.

My biggest complaint isn't the prices; it's the lack of benches. They're a necessity when being at the park all day.
If you don't want to pay $4 for a bottle of water, then get some refiables at walmart, load them up with ice only, and they'll last for most of the day.

For food, buy a meal plan. What you don't spend when you leave they'll let you convert to snacks, candy, etc.

Disney springs used to be called Downtown Disney I think. I hope they keep rainforest place there.

It's for the kids. Yeah they rip you off. That's why it should just be do it once and never go back.

But some people make it this anual thing. No thanks, rather spend half that cash and go to the beach for a week.

You're excited about your vacation. Great! I don't need to hear how excited you are every other day. Act like a damn adult.

I have seen this happen during idle chat during a business meeting. Grown adult guys. Twice I have experience it from guys who have no children. Just the guy and his wife, going to Disney year after year.

Universal blows away Disney. Fact.

Done both, universal does not compare to Disney world. There is so much non park to do at Disney.

I don't understand spending all that money to give one's family a fake plastic experience.

if they just charged $15 to get in the park and $1 for water, imagine how much better the park would be!

Throw in pig races and fried butter and it would be as cool as the state fair.

And yea, sure, my ideal vacation would be one that involves roadtripping around, visiting national parks, hiking, being out west with nature. But DIsney was still pretty fricking awesome

I understand this. When my son gets a little older, I'm sure we'll have a blast. But I don't get the need to go every single year, and in some cases multiple times a year. My sister had a friend who is a freak about it and went with her 3 month old. Kid is less than 18 months old now and has been like 3 times. My in laws have been 4 or 5 times since I've known my wife (8 years) and only once did their kids go with them. I just don't get that.

But same can be said for anything. My parents constantly do the same thing for vacations because they're comfortable with it (not Disney). I don't get that either. I'm not spending money to do the same thing all the time. Sure I'll do something more than once, but if I found that one thing that's good, just imagine how much more great stuff is out there in the world.

calm down and breath. I was more talking about those who go every single year. I AM better than the people that do that. Once is enough.

so you can stand in line for hours on end for a 70 second experience?

They let too many people in. Took our daughter last year (4 years old) and it was ridiculous. She was miserable, we were miserable.
Fast pass system is good if you can plan things and get in a routine. But trying to relax on vacation and predict what a kid is going to be able to handle is tough.
For example, I got us fast passes for something at 2pm, but by 2pm (we got there at park opening), my daughter was ready for a nap. Wasted fast passes.
