This chick has a stretching routine that has helped limber me up. The plus of her workout is that you never push the muscles, so when you begin there's no break-in/soreness stage. She has a stretch for all the joints: hips, shoulders, back, etc.

It's very subtle, but I noticed improvement overall and in specific creaky joints immediately and improvement continues from there.

The unexpected plus was that even tho the exercises don't include weights or aerobic activity, it shapes you up. And she is not a bad looker for an older gal.
Classical stretch youtube

Also, second the mattress replacement.

Anyone else wake up with sore shoulders, lower back, and plantar fasciitis almost every day?

All of the above. The Plantar Fasciitis only gave me problems when I was working 12 hour shifts standing on concrete floors.

You’re not wrong but everything with sugar in it is super yummy.

A cushiony pair of house slippers may help with the feet. Some research into appropriate mattresses/pillows for your sleeping position can help back and shoulders. Proper sleep hygiene can help. Obviously dietary and exercise changes for overweight people may help. Posture changes can help the back. Stress relief strategies(breathing, meditation, relaxation) can help pain. Testosterone supplementation for the older fellas can help pain.

Drink lots of water

As silly as it may seem, a lot of nagging pain can be from not being properly hydrated.

Sometimes it has to do with what positions your body is in during sleep. I have pain in my right shoulder because I end up sleeping on my right side. Some mornings my back hurts because I ended up sleeping on my stomach.

Mine started this a few years ago…I’d step out of bed and the bottom of my feet felt sore. Freaked me out.

I started walking and then jogging and it cleared right up. Amazing how that works.

No doubt. I quit sleeping on my stomach years ago which helped my lower back. For more relief lookup sleep positions and pillow placement between legs for side sleeper and under knees for back sleepers.

Better mattress helped my shoulders from pain related to side sleep.

Weight training goes a long way too especially if you're not doing any

Any time I sit or lay down for any significant amount of time, my Achilles tendons tighten up so bad that I walk like a penguin for a minute or two after standing up. Yes, getting old sucks.

Try turmeric. I take 500mg daily and have noticed a definite decline in joint soreness. My orthopedic recommended that I try it for elbow pain before going to physical therapy. It worked and I kept taking it.

Why’d you never start working out

exactly, bet OP is mid 40s and hasnt touched a weight in 20+ years if at all, prolly doesnt do any mobility work or any form of resistance and prolly hasnt run real sprint in a decade

i highly doubt he is like the 80 year old poster, who is apperantly kicking arse.

its funny, people sit and lay around all day, can tell you all about their favorite tv show, but claim to have no time to workout

then when they are in pain....getting old sucks

I had terrible neck/shoulder pain for the latter half of my 30s. I bought a Tempurpedic mattress @ 39 years old, and haven't had a problem in a decade.

I’ve gotten tendinitis in my right rotator cuff the last year. I started doing acupuncture this last month, it’s helped me tremendously. Way better than PT.
