All the people saying your kid put himself in a bad situation are missing the bigger picture here. BRPD shouldn’t right another MIP until they get the robberies under control. Looking past felonies, often violent to write a ticket to a college kid for drinking is fricking retarded.
ETA: LSU or a hungry entrepreneur should step up and offer some kind of scheduled safe transit from tigerland to apartments/dorms.

He is ok. Out a phone and some cash. His friend got hit as well, but nothing taken. It is a shame.

I got mugged once. Won't happen again. Very award of surroundings when I go out. If I walk alone at night anywhere I don't get on my phone for that very reason and always have a work knife on my hip. Except in nice neighborhoods and open public areas with a lot of people obviously.

To the OP, sorry to hear and I hope your son is ok. I got robbed over a decade ago off campus when I was a student. Fortunately they didn’t rough me up but just took my stuff, and just pointed a gun pointed at me point blank. I can’t stress enough - tell your kids constantly to be aware of their surroundings, especially when in a vulnerable situation. I was naive at the time and thought this pack of 4 young men were just having a stroll at the time. I didn’t once think that I had never seen these guys in this area and they looked suspicious as hell. I could have avoided the situation if I would have been thinking straight.

Can they just hire some plainclothes cops to pretend to head back to their apartments alone and when trouble comes, they just blast them Death Wish style? It’s such an easy solution. Put the fear of death into these losers and I guarantee it stops.
