What can BRPD do? That whole area behind the bars is section 8. Until college kids vote with their feet and quit going, the bar owners don’t give a shite either

Don't be naive man. BRPD could absolutely lock down and prevent crimes against college students. Some here live in an area of BR surrounded by a completely different demographic and economic setting and they lock it down pretty well. Like, the houses can go from being $300/ft to $50/ft just by rolling past one stop sign. I'll say and there is some minor crime, but you won't see a person not of residence walking through after dark for a reason. There is a reason and it is absolutely known in their world that they don't want to get caught fricking up in certain neighboring hoods so crime is low. Either that or completely give up on Tigerland and relocate the scene.

Would be pretty easy considering the students with money are all moving towards Burbank anyway. Just put a few of the bars near where that Rouses/Chick fil a just went up

there are 6-8 cops out there on a busy night. Most of these crimes occur on dark streets with no one around. To fight the crime in that area you’d have to pull some serious stop and frisks. Think Broome is going to do that? Lol

Hate to hear about your son...hopefully, he is ok. It really is a damn shame that the Tigerland area has gone to shite. Unfortunately, the damn fights among students are damn near as bad as the predators living in the area.

Eventually, you would think the LSU crowd and their parents would get enough of that crap and pressure the BR government into doing something. I guess some righ guy's child will have to get killed before they take notice.

That's a good idea.

Rotolo's was smart to move in that spot.

Until the Section 8 gets burned to the ground these kind of robberies will continue for many more years to come. The rats that live on Alvin Dark and Sharlo have no desire to leave until they are forced.

You think Fraoli is going to move Fred’s to DT and pay the sky high rent there?

The simple solution for this is for LSU to fork over some money to BR PD for a shite ton of officers to camp out and make sure everyone stays inside the bars. That parking lot shite shouldn’t be tolerated what so ever. As soon as you walk out of a bar, you leave. No loitering.

The problem here would be the image of LSU. The narrative would be that the university is catering to drinking and partying off campus. In reality, they’d be catering to the safety of the students. Should be the top priority. LSU prints money. Them shelling out some money for police to crack down shouldn’t be a problem.

I figured that. It just pisses me off. Friend of mine had his son shot in Tigerland years ago and my pressure gets high when I hear its a total warzone. I was in school in the early 90's and while no one was bragging they lived in Tigerland, I had no problem walking home through Sharlo to Brightside View by myself at anytime of the day or night.

They should give a shite about their student’s safety. It’s more than just Tigerland though. There’s plenty of crime on campus and other places right off campus.

It effects the image of LSU when LSU students are on the news getting robbed, raped or attacked near campus. Every time it happens I get 3 prospective kids in HS decide to take their talents & money to Bama or Ole Miss.

You’re talking about the same school that has a CEO of diversity and gender neutral bathrooms all over

You really think they’re going to spend money to crack heads in Tigerland? Until students go elsewhere, nothing will change

You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re thinking of UL - L.

I’ve never once seen a gender neutral bathroom on campus.

Just because the brand new UREC has a few doesn’t mean they’re “all over”

Typical OT poster being dramatic as hell.

You missed the point

If you think a state university has the desire to pay a bunch of cops to crack heads in a college bar area...you’re not really keeping up with the times

Obviously the City isn’t going to do anything either

As I said earlier, until the bar owners start hurting, nothing will happen. You guys can continue to engage in your Punisher fantasies though

Lived in Tigerland in late 80’s and early 90’s. Walked home all the time with no threat of being jumped or robbed. Sucks what it has become today.
