Can they just hire some plainclothes cops to pretend to head back to their apartments alone and when trouble comes, they just blast them Death Wish style? It’s such an easy solution. Put the fear of death into these losers and I guarantee it stops.
1. They’re 80 cops short. They can’t just whimsically reassign a few. They’re barely able to staff each shift as it is.
2. They’re led by Broome and Paul. Good luck ever getting them to allow BRPD officers to actually do police work.

You think Fraoli is going to move Fred’s to DT and pay the sky high rent there?
Not after spending the coin he just did on buying Reggie’s

Marc bought Reggie’s?
Hope he cleans it up.

But Why? Why the frick doesn't BRPD lock that area down? The bars where half of the students at LSU go to is in the middle of a damn war zone. Its total bullshite. Clean that shithole up.
They only have a handful of guys available to cover downtown to Tigerland. One big incident happens in The Bottoms and they’re all tied up for hours.

If you think a state university has the desire to pay a bunch of cops to crack heads in a college bar area...you’re not really keeping up with the times
Most other college town bar areas I’ve been to have a strong police presence. I’m sure it’s funded by the university in some capacity. Whether that is a process where the university gives the money to the city then the city makes the choices. Either way, BR is ran by your typical crooked LA politicians so this is all irrelevant.

That’s what I heard.
Also heard free drinks/open bar is getting the axe

Long story short, Baton Rouge is broke and this whole situation is fricked.
Nothing will ever get better it’ll only get worse. Correct?

At Reggie’s or Fred’s? Free drinks is the only reason people go to that shite hole

Most other college bar scenes are not located in front of slums
It would take a major show of force for months to change the culture out there
Good luck getting that with either F. King or Broome

If Fred’s gets rid of free drinks I will be extremely sad, but not as sad as if I still went to LSU

Easy solution is opening up a bar or three near the new Burbank stuff. Not close to the hood and students live out there anyway

Both. Like I said, just what I’ve heard. Something to do with insurance.
It’s getting changed to quarter drinks.

The simple solution for this is for LSU to fork over some money to BR PD for a shite ton of officers to camp out and make sure everyone stays inside the bars.
Why should LSU pay to police something off campus?
Should Academy pay BRPD extra to protect their customers at BREC basketball courts?

You literally just repeated what I said.
Major show of force. Aka a shite ton of cops making sure nobody is fricking around in the parking lots. They can all frick around and get wasted inside the bars. Keep the parking lot and road free of people. No tolerance.

That would be the beginning of the end for both places. Fred’s kind of has that cult following, but don’t think Reggie’s would make it.
I haven’t been over there in a couple years, but in my drunken stupor from 2011-2015, it was packed from 8-10 on Friday nights, then became a ghost town from about 11 or 12 until 2.

Could you imagine the shitshow the first time some BRPD paid by LSU kicked the shite out of some body? Gravy and Talcum X would be on it within hours

Sorry to hear that about your son. I lived at Brooke Hollow ten years ago and never had any issues hitting that block to and from tigerland, but know of people that were robbed even then for taking their chances as a pedestrian anywhere behind tigerland.
Here's the realistic question: Which is likely to be feasible and likely to occur first?
1. Tigerland(or at least Fred's with others following) finally picking up some new real estate elsewhere before the good real estate near campus in this area is developed.
2. Tigerland waiting it out until development has the decency to burn section8 to the ground(preferably with would-be and has-been perps inside) and rebuilding with college-friendly property
3. Continued social tolerance of bullshite crimes/robberies against college kids in the short and longterm?
