Can we get a Disney board or something. It seems like every summer and around holidays there is a thread " Can someone explain the Disney obsession by adults"
Why do you care? Why does anyone care about something someone else is enjoying? Does it affect you? If you know someone in real life who is obsessed with Disney, ask them.
I know many adult women who are obsessed with Disney. They go multiple times a year to Disney World or Disney Land. They enjoy it. It brings them back to a time when things were simpler and they can feel like a kid or youthful but still do adult things like drink around the world in Epcot. They have the money to do it as they are doctors and lawyers and executives in companies. Never bothers me.

Someone enlighten me, what’s so amazing about it?
I enjoy golf. Many would consider it a waste of time and money.
Others enjoy other things.
I’ve been to Disney. It was fun when the kids were little.
I have not been in several years.
I used to go to a lot of football games. As I’ve gotten older, it feels like work to plan the weekend and travel to and from the games.
People like to do different things with their time and treasure.
Ultimately, you can’t take it with you so if you find something you enjoy, just do it.

I’m going to Disney for the first time in 20 years in September. We’re gonna do the fireworks party and lightening lanes and Savis workshop.
My ex and his new wife, on the other hand are annual pass holders and do it on the cheap all the time. I think in all the years he’s gone he’s only brought the kids once.

Disney World really stands out to me because of how well it’s maintained. It’s an amusement park, but everything looks brand new even though it’s been around for decades. I went a couple of times when my kids were younger, and I was blown away by how clean everything was and how nothing looked worn down. From an operations perspective, it’s seriously impressive. Even the transportation system is worth mentioning, between the monorail, boats, and buses, getting around is easy. I’ve heard the Skyliner is a great addition too, though it wasn’t there the last time I went. If you like amusement parks, it’s definitely top tier.
For a lot of people, especially women for some reason, I think it hits a nostalgic nerve. There’s something about the connection to all those classic movies that brings people back to their childhoods. It’s like a way to relive those happy memories.
There’s also just so much variety. The rides and shows are great, but then you’ve got the cultural experiences in Epcot, the zoo-like vibe of Animal Kingdom, the immersive movie stuff, and the cast members who stay in character and make the whole place feel alive. The themed hotels are something else too.
Would I go multiple times a year? No. Would I go once a year? Also no. But am I glad I took my kids twice before they turned 12? Absolutely. They have great memories of the place. As an adult, to me it’s more of a once-every-5-to-10-years kind of thing, mostly because I want to see the new stuff when I go back.
One of my favorite moments was during our first trip. My son was about four years old. We were at Epcot on our last night watching the fireworks. I saw him crying and thought he might be scared of the noise. I bent down to reassure him, and he looked at me and said, “I ain’t scared. I’m sad because it’s our last day here.” As a dad trying to give my family a great time, that moment made every dollar and every line worth it.

The world is scary. Most are ill equipped.

They’re stuck in mental loops from the age in which repressed trauma happened to them.
And sometimes normal people also just like nostalgia.

This is probably the best thing to do at Disney as an adult.

It makes them happy. I don't get it but I don't see the harm and if I did it ain't none of my business. I like to sit hidden in the bushes in the dead of winter next to a body of water hoping to kill a duck...a lot of people think that's weird. It ain't none of their damned business....

I am 46. I like Disney World and theme / amusement parks in general. My family and I went to Disney three times when I was growing up. The first time was in the early ‘80s when the Magic Kingdom was the only park. Great memories from those trips. Space Mountain , Pirates, and the Haunted Mansion are rides I will always enjoy. It’s been about ten years since the last time I have been there, though.
I am sure I will go again at some point, but (to me) the world is just too big and cool to keep going back to the same place over and over again - whether it’s Disney, 30A, New York, wherever. I like to see new things.
Epcot has pavilions representing ten countries in its World Showcase - and they are awesome. But I have actually been to all ten of those countries. That’s how I prefer to travel.

as long as they aren't obese IDGAF
I know some folks who go and don't leave the resorts. They just like chilling out and eating at the restaurants.

The types of people that like Disney world and cruises are the exact type of people I don't want to be around.

It's people that went many years ago and had such a great time they bought a timeshare and now they have to go every year and fake it that they rather go see Mickey then a take a real vacation.
No one "has to" go to Disney because they bought in to DVC. Disney's time share is perhaps the only time share that actually maintains or gains value and will sell if you put it on the market (maybe there are others, but I've never seen them). It's the only one that you could just sell if you aren't enjoying it.

Festival of the Holidays is better imo.

True, but I think the underlying premise is inaccurate. I give a shite when you blow $$$$ on Disney, or travel ball, or trips to Cancun, and then act desperate and surprised when college costs come up and start whingeing about money.
To me, it's shockingly small minded to spend the same amount of money getting to, and spending time at Disney (repeatedly), than it is for a long week in Europe, but it's not my business what people like.

If this board is ever slow, all someone needs to do is start a Disney or 30A thread. Then all of the losers who can't afford to go will come and start bashing, even though they have never been.

I guess it's just a matter of what you like. I knew a guy who spent a lot of money and time on remote-controlled airplanes. I found it the most boring thing imaginable. A lot of my friends deer hunt, but I would much rather go to a Broadway musical.
To each his own. Universal is still a blast as far as I'm concerned.

Harry Potter adults are just as bad.
We just took our kid to see the broadway play and it was weirdo world. Lots of adults dressed in character. Most fat and the same demographic that is Disney obsessed. The guy in line behind us said it was his 12th seeing the play.
