The younger generations should have to pay a higher share of taxes because yall elected people that kicked the can?

He said to kill it entirely, which means the taxes, too.
You also invalidated your own statement where you said exchange it.
No coffee or are you just extra stupid today

What are my failures? Also you realize if I stop paying, you won’t receive anything right?

One of the worst takes on here, ever.

Pretty sure they said the same thing six years ago. And six years before that…
Cutting out for fraud might give us another 6 years….
But I know when the system will collapse….. the day after I retire and file for said benefits….

What you are referring is something covered by income taxes.

Obviously, FICA is a dedicated tax to this program
So it's covered by dedicated income taxes. Apples to apples, but envy apples to cosmic crisp apples.

I would support future generations having the ability to opt out. However, I am not OK with the generations that were forced to pay into it the system not getting payments as promised.
In this hypothetical system, where would the money to pay your payments come from? If the young people opt out, your funding dries up.

Based on your cavalier attitude about giving up your SS payments. I'm guessing you're at the start of your career and haven't paid into the system for 30+ years.
I started working at 16. I'm 42. So approximately 26. I worked through undergrad but not law school, so 23.

If you are shocked by this, point your anger at politicians and your fellow citizens that allowed us to get to this point. You paid in for 35 years. I have paid in for 30. I accepted reality a few years back that I couldn’t rely on SS.
Please tell me where you think the line should be drawn on who gets fricked?

Just give me all the money I’ve paid in since I started working at 15, then do whatever you want. Take the salaries of Congress to pay it out.

It's another terrible government program.
Kill it and move on.
Kill it and move on.

Take it out the hands of government.

I don’t want you to give anyone anything.
I want you to realize you were lied to, accept the loss, support ending SS, and work to where the younger generations don’t have to go through the same scam that you did.
quote:Well, between the two of us, only one wants to keep SS going (you).
Sound just like a liberal dumb arse.
That sounds pretty progressive to Scruffy.

Lol.. same same here
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet since i live overseas, i just woke up here on a Saturday morning and havent read all 12 pages.. but everything ive read / heard about this over the last year or two indicates that *if* this all comes to pass and SS does indeed become insolvent- they wont just stop sending out checks.. the amount sent each month to SS recipients wont be eliminated, just reduced.. the number i saw was a 15% reduction in monthly benefits.. but even that amount will hit hard for someone on a fixed income .

Anytime they're saying that they're running out of money for social security is bullshite. Look how much money they come up out of the blue with for the Ukraine and for Iran. Not saying that any of that is bad, I'm just saying whenever they need money they always seem to have a shitload. They just use the, oh no we're running out of money for social security, stuff just like Louisiana says, oh no we're going to have to shut down LSU football. It's all bullshite

I'll get fricked because I'm almost 50. But the current program is unsustainable, especially since people stopped having kids. The Ponzi scheme can only continue with new investors.

Anyone that wouldn’t vote for the program to completely shut down tomorrow, is a selfish a-hole that doesn’t give a damn about their grandkids
